Think back to your first kiss. I know, I’m very sorry to spring nostalgia on you before the workday is even over, but I absolutely must. Do you have the memory? Are you embarrassed yet? Can you feel the awkward washing over you along with a little spit? If your first kiss memory isn’t awkward, well then congratulations. You’re so cool.

All kiss-shaming aside, one thing we can all probably agree on is that hearing celebrities’ first kiss stories is a lot of fun, especially when they’re awkward. And what’s more awkward than locking lips for the first time in your life surrounded by cameras and crew people telling you which way to move your head? Very few things. But that’s what happened to these eleven lovely celebrities whose first ever kisses happened on screen in movies and television. Luckily they all have successful careers now and it wasn’t all for nothing.

1. Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten has the most classic story of all. Her first smooch was with noted handsome person Brad Pitt for the movie Interview with the Vampire. But she was understandably not so psyched about it at the time considering she was 11 and he was very much a grown-up: “Everyone at the time was like, ‘You’re so lucky you kissed Brad Pitt,’ but I thought it was disgusting. I didn’t kiss anyone else until I was 16, I think. I was a late bloomer.”

2. Mila Kunis

Mila’s first kiss was actually on the set of That ’70s Show in 1998 with her now-boyfriend/maybe fiance Ashton Kutcher when they had just met. She told People, “I was like, ‘Oh, he’s so cute, it’s the Calvin Klein model!’ Then I was like, ‘I have to kiss him?’ I was so nervous and uncomfortable. I had the biggest crush on him.”

3. Josh Hutcherson

Based on how much Josh likes to gush about kissing Jennifer Lawrence, you’d think she was his first kiss. But it turns out his real first kiss was much more awkward, on the set of the movie Little Manhattan when he was 11. Why was it awkward? His parents were there, for starters, as well as a few other people: “It was a horrible first kiss because I had a crew of like 50 people standing around watching me and it was the most non-real, non-intimate that I could possibly have for my first kiss I think.”

4. Alia Shawkat

Turns out Maeby and George Michael’s (Michael Cera) incestuous first kiss on Arrested Development was also Alia Shawkat’s first kiss in real life. She had a predictably awesome description for it in an interview with The A.V. Club: “It wasn’t like a make-out, you know what I mean? The way I describe it was that it’s like two fists hitting each other, boom, in and out.”

5. Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer’s first kiss was with Corbin Bleu for the Disney Channel movie Jump In! She was really nervous about it and had a bit of an existential crisis, as she told Access Hollywood: “We did [the kiss scene] like 20 times. I became really self-conscious, I was like ‘Should I being having my first kiss on a movie? Should I let that happen to me? Maybe this is all a bad thing?’” It turned out okay, though, and she says Corbin was “so sweet.”

Jesse Eisenberg’s kiss description sort of grosses me out. I imagine him like a fish or something.
