In case you somehow forgot how absolutely wonderful Kerry Washington is, allow me to remind you by showing you the thank you cupcakes she sent to Saturday Night Live today. Not only is it super sweet of her to send thank you cupcakes in the first place, but when you see the joke she had written on them, you’re going to die. That is, if you watched her hilarious episode of SNL a couple of weeks ago. Even if you didn’t watch it, you’ll still love it, because it’s adorable even without context.
The official SNL Instagram posted the below photo earlier today with the caption “Just got the best batch of cupcakes for read-thru from @kerrywashington!! #SNL #WhoDatBitch?” Then Kerry herself retweeted their link to it and added, “I MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE SENT @sprinkles to #SNL.” Um, I need to go look up the word “perfect” in every language living or dead to properly describe what I’m looking in this photo.
If you’re not familiar with the reference, allow me to explain. When Kerry hosted the show, one of the best sketches of the night was a music video parody of Ylvis’ “The Fox” starring Kerry and Jay Pharoah that posed the queston, “What does my girl say?” And that’s one of the things his girl says! Guys, there are few things I love more than a solid inside joke, especially when it’s written out on something sugary that I can immediately eat once I’ve gotten all my chuckles out.
I also really like that Kerry chose to send them when the cast would be doing their read-through and would need cupcakey sustenance. Especially since Lady Gaga is hosting the show this weekend, which must be pretty interesting, to say the least. Let’s just say, based on her rather unconventional lifestyle, that she seems like the kind of host who drives you to binge-eat a bunch of cupcakes all week. Either way, the other SNL hosts this season have a lot of live up to after this gesture.
