If you created a drinking game where you did a shot every time Tom Hiddleston did something sweet and adorable, you’d be in a lot of trouble. I don’t think a day goes by where he doesn’t put a smile on somebody’s face, especially recently since he’s been out and about promoting his new movie Thor: The Dark World. After reading about his surprise appearance at a kids’ screening of the movie last night in New York City, my heart has expanded, not only as a representation of my renewed faith in humanity, but also simply to make more room for Tom to take up residence there.
Tom flew in from London yesterday to hang out with a bunch of kids for a special charity screening of Thor: The Dark World on Halloween night, co-hosted by Disney and The New York Daily News. The event was honoring charities Variety the Children’s Charity of New York and The Children’s Aid Society. Tom reportedly announced “I am Loki and I am filled with glorious purpose” as he made his entrance, and he posed for adorable pictures with the kids in the audience.
Tom apparently landed at the airport just a couple of hours before he was scheduled to appear, and he told the News how excited he was to be there.
“To see that enthusiasm, to see them clap and cheer, wearing Loki T-shirts and swinging hammers, that was really gratifying.”
That’s not all, you guys. I know, I don’t know if I can handle any more loveliness, but I’m going to try for Tom’s sake. Tom explained that he has worked with both the charities involved.
“There are armies of people behind the scenes who do tireless work on behalf of children all over the world. So it’s nothing for me to turn up and introduce a screening for them. I hope it’s a nice reward.”
He can act, he can dance, he can do great impressions, he can surprise children at charity events. Is there anything Tom Hiddleston can’t do? Make someone feel sad, probably. It doesn’t look like that’s on his resume.
