There are few things as LOL-worthy as a spot-on celebrity impression. Since I lack the ability to imitate anyone but myself, I enjoy witnessing people far more talented than I will ever be imitate famous people with iconic voices — or non-iconic voices, which makes it even more thrilling. What could possibly make a great celebrity impression even more entertaining, you ask? Why, having the impressionist be a celebrity themselves, of course.
For years stars have been showing off their hidden talents for impersonating their fellow famous people during interviews. There’s nothing like admiring a celebrity for their talent or personality and then finding out that they’re also excellent at mimicking another celebrity you love. So that’s why I’ve compiled a list of some of the funniest celebrity impressions done by other celebrities. I didn’t include any sketch show clips, because then the list would never end. Just raw, spontaneous impersonations.
1. Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Rickman
Benedict recently stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and had a bit of a competition to decide who had the better Alan Rickman impression. Sorry, Jimmy, but I think Benny won this won, if only for the fact that his voice is already pretty Rickmanesque.
2. Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Nicholson
This one’s all in the eyebrows. Skip ahead to 2:15 to see the amazingness. I think we know who’ll be playing Jack in the eventual biopic. And also who will inevitably be snubbed by the Academy for it.
3. Julie Bowen as Sofia Vergara
Julie Bowen loves imitating her Modern Family co-star Sofia Vergara, whether she’s telling a story on the red carpet or sitting down for a talk show. Bonus points for her hilarious facial expressions and body movements.
4. Bradley Cooper as Christopher Walken
Were you aware that Hollywood golden boy Bradley Cooper was excellent at impressions? The video above also includes his versions of Bill Clinton, Owen Wilson and Robert DeNiro, but his Walken is particularly delightful.
5. Josh Hutcherson as Vanessa Hudgens
This one’s really short, and you’re probably not going to walk away from it going, “Wow, that’s so accurate.” But it’s Josh Hutcherson doing an adorably girly laugh. There’s no way I was going to leave it out.
6. Eric Bana as Orlando Bloom
If you’ve watched as many Lord of the Rings extras as I have, you’ll know that this video of Eric Bana impersonating his Troy co-star Orlando Bloom is absolutely spot-on, right down to the mannerisms and the word choice. This is one I never thought I’d hear.
7. Matt Damon as Matthew McConaughey
Matt does such a good impression of his fellow Matt that it’s become something of a tradition every time he visits David Letterman’s show. I never want that tradition to end.
8. Tina Fey as Her Daughter Alice
Tina Fey’s daughter Alice Richmond will have to count as a celebrity here, because I could not resist including this. Having never heard little Alice speak, I have no idea if this is accurate, but it’s never not hilarious.
9. Alec Baldwin as Tracy Morgan
Once I heard Alec imitate Tracy on 30 Rock, I knew it was my favorite show. Then he continued to show off his impression on talk shows and I couldn’t get enough of it.
10. Chord Overstreet as Everyone
As if Glee‘s Chord Overstreet couldn’t get any cuter, he also does hilarious impressions, which he often shows off on the show. I was initially going to focus on his weirdly accurate Taylor Lautner impression, but then I decided they were all too adorable not to share.
11. Maya Rudolph as Gwen Stefani
So this might be cheating a little bit since Maya is an SNL alum and all, but she wasn’t exactly known for her Gwen Stefani impression before this appearance on Ellen. But it is absolutely wonderful, and you need to hear it. Skip ahead to 1:45 for the awesomeness.
12. The Rock as Arnold Schwarzenegger
We all have a crush on The Rock, right? We can all agree about that? Well, prepare to have an even bigger crush after you hear his Austrian Ahhhnold voice.
13. One Direction as Each Other
I didn’t think it was possible for One Direction to look like they enjoy each other’s company any more than they already do, but apparently it is possible based on this video. Once you hear Harry Styles imitate Niall Horan’s Irish brogue, your life will never be the same. Click here for even more magic.
14. Tom Hiddleston as Owen Wilson
My crush on Tom Hiddleston increases exponentially every day, and this video of him pretending to be his Midnight in Paris co-star Owen Wilson doesn’t hurt. Bradley Cooper’s was good too, but Tom gets extra points because he does a completely different accent.
15. Chris Hemsworth as His Daughter India Rose
This isn’t a vocal impression, and once again we’re just going to count celebrity children as celebrities, but how can you not love seeing Chris imitate his daughter’s tiny arm movements at 2:20? Sorry Liam, but this guy right here is my favorite Hemsworth.
