Ellen Sent Her Crew To A Haunted House, And Hilarity Ensued So Hard That I Might’ve Just Peed My Pants

Andy Lassner Amy Haunted House Ellen

I hate haunted houses. I don’t find them fun. I find them horrifying. There’s nothing enjoyable to me about thinking that I’m about to die. Sure, sure, sure, it’s all make believe. But it’s hard to remember that when costumed strangers are jumping out at you in a dark maze. It’s the same reason I hate things like roller coasters and making meth — the thrill isn’t enough to make me forget that I’m on the verge of death.

I do, however, enjoy watching other people go through haunted houses. That’s why I’m obsessed with this video of Ellen DeGeneres sending her executive producer and her writer to one. In case you don’t know her executive producer, his name is Andy Lassner and he’s one of the funniest people on Twitter. Just look at this gem from this morning:

The writer’s name is Amy Rhodes and she’s also probably hilarious on Twitter. It’s just that before today, I’d never heard her name. However, thanks to my good friends at the Internet, I now have lots of information about her at my fingertips.

But enough about my Twitter stalking — we have a video to discuss! Ellen sent Andy and Amy to the Walking Dead haunted house at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights and filmed their experience. Considering that Amy gets scared and Andy gets REALLY scared, it turned out be a pretty hilarious video. At least based on my pants, which I just peed.

“I get it! They come out at you!” This is my favorite thing.

I wonder if the actors who jump out at people are ever hit? I know that sometimes when startled my first reactions is to hit or lash out in defense. It isn’t something that I consciously think about–it is just a reaction.

Yup, regularly. Experienced haunters are ready to jump out of the way of a strike.

Shelly Lloyd I was wondering that myself! The only time I was ever in one of those places I was walking along making sarcastic comments about how fake everything was. All at once someones hand came through a small hole in the wall and grabbed me by the ankle… I must have jumped at least a foot straight up. I did not see that one coming. I recall striking out too. I guess the people running the place decided that since I had made those comments they were going to “Get” me. They certainly did too! That was 35 years ago and it’s still fresh in my mind.
The organization that ran that house eventually stopped hosting those events. Too many people complained about being grabbed. To me though that was part of the fun. You go to those places to be scared and the scariest thing that can happen to you is to be in a totally dark room and have someone grab you when you are not expecting it.

Had to watch this on mute while my 4-year-old is a foot away from me watching Lalaloopsy. Oh my god, that was hilarious even without sound.

I saw this yesterday, it was so funny! I love how Andy kept using Amy as a human shield…”I’m just trying to protect you!” LOL.

I loved it when the guy was yelling “Stop it!” If i were one of the haunters I’d have to restrain myself from really pouring it on him. Actually I probably would stop…but only because he seems to be a nice person.
