Kanye West will be a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live this Wednesday night. Before you check your calendars to remember when Wednesday is, I’ll save you the time by telling you it’s today. Yes, in a matter of hours Kanye West will be talking to his mortal enemy Jimmy Kimmel. In case you’ve forgotten, Kanye had #ALLDISRESPECT for Jimmy on Twitter after Jimmy spoofed his now-infamous BBC interview. Jimmy better have some bodyguards on hand tonight, or maybe just call Ben Affleck to come moderate (#NODISRESPECT).
Orrrrr — this is such a big or it deserved multiple Rs — maybe Jimmy won’t need a bodyguard or a bodyfleck at all. Maybe this Twitter feud was all just an elaborate prank, like we originally worried. At the time, Jimmy told us this was very genuine, and he reiterated that last night in his tweet announcing Kanye’s appearance.
TOMORROW NIGHT, MY GUEST WILL BE @kanyewest (for real, yes and was it all a setup, no)
— Jimmy Kimmel (@jimmykimmel) October 8, 2013
I don’t know about you, but Jimmy Kimmel is very high on my list of least trustworthy people ever since he revealed that he was behind that twerk fail video last month. I wouldn’t put it past him to just flat-out lie about whether or not this is a prank. Of course, if it turned out to really be one, that would probably mean his pranking days are over, since we’ll know that no matter what he says, it might be fake. We’ll also become very paranoid people, looking at every weird pop culture phenomenon with narrowed eyes. And then we’ll probably all go crazy and tear our houses apart looking for bugs. And it’ll all be Jimmy Kimmel’s doing. The greatest prank ever.
The only thing convincing me that this feud is the real deal is that Kanye West is involved. We’ve been tapping Kanye’s sense-of-humor-ometer for years now, but the mercury won’t go above zero. So let’s just say that if this does turn out to have all been a setup, I will have a newfound respect for Kanye West and a not-so-newfound distrust of Jimmy Kimmel. Don’t do this, Jimmy. This is a suicide mission.
