Anna Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias have supposedly split, and I don’t know if I’ve ever been this thrilled about a celebrity break up. Not because I want true love and fairytales to be dead or whatever, but because they just solved a blind item, and that is my most favoritest thing ever.
On October 2nd, Blind Gossip posted a piece alleging that a ‘beautiful couple’ was about to break up. They didn’t say who, but there were a lot of clues in the body of the text that suggested it was Anna and Enrique, who have been dating for twelve years but never got married. If you can spot them, you’ll be that much closer to understanding the mysterious minutiae that Jenni and I spend our days obsessing over:
“…Neither one of these celebrities had a particularly good track record going into the relationship when it came to fidelity, but things definitely got worse after they moved in together. Now the love match is completely over.
The public story is that the relationship just ran it’s course and that one party was tired of the lack of commitment of the other party.
But we’re going to tell you the private reason behind the split: cheating! Yes, that’s the real reason they are breaking up. The last few years have just been a series of fights over infidelity.
Our inside mole told us that they are both guilty. He tended to favor models. She favored professional athletes. There are several big names involved as third parties, including a well-known supermodel and a mega-rich athlete.
Did you catch those? ‘Love match’ because Anna plays tennis? ‘Mole’ because…Enrique has one? Sneaky.
According to that post, the split wasn’t going to be revealed until later this year or early next, but they did speculate that both people involved were so eager to move on with their new partners (and by the way, we have no guesses on who the mysterious supermodel or the anonymous athlete might be) that it could happen earlier. And now it looks like it did! Just not officially yet; all we have so far is a source who spoke to OK Magazine and says they’re totally done:
“Anna is getting tired of waiting for him to decide if he wants to marry her or not. They’ve been together for so long, she feels like it’s never going to happen. She is ready to move on. This issue has come up before, and they have managed to smooth things over and get back together. Time will tell.”
Or Blind Gossip will. And I’m fine either way, because this makes me feel like the kid detective I’ve always dreamed of becoming.
