Britney Spears Thought ‘Work Bitch’ Was Too Sexy — Does She Know She Was In It?

I think Britney Spears might have gotten a little confused, guys. All anyone’s been able to talk about for weeks has been Miley Cyrus at the VMAs, and since there’s nothing new to add to the performance itself, people have been asking for celebrities’ takes on what happened. Doesn’t have to have been someone who was there, just anyone with an opinion will do. And I think that must be what Britney thought she was being asked about when she gave these quotes about her new video for ‘Work Bitch’, otherwise they make absolutely no sense.

In a recent interview with The TJ Show, Britney was asked about the video, and she responded negatively to how sexual it is. Which is odd, coming from the artist who appeared in it. But what’s more, she said that even though it’s pretty overt in its current form, the original was way more scandalous.

“Oh my god, we showed way more skin and did way more stuff for the video then what is actually there. Like, I cut out half the video because I am a mother and because, you know, I have children, and it’s just hard to play sexy mom while you’re being a pop star as well.”

Oookay. I feel for you girl, but what did you think they were filming if not this video? “Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize you were going to use that footage for anything. I thought were just playing pretend with those movie boxes over your shoulders. I had no idea those were real cameras, and I take it all back! All of it!”

TJ is kinder than I am, however, and has a better understanding of what Britney is trying to say, asking her, “So in some sense, are they pushing you further than you want to go? And then you sit in the editing room and you say, no, that has to go? And that’s pretty much how it’s all lined up?” Britney says yes and goes on to reveal:

“…A lot of sex goes into what I do. But sometimes I would like to bring it back to the old days when there was like one outfit through the whole video, and you’re dancing the whole video, and there’s like not that much sex stuff going on… It’s about the dance and it’s about being old school, it’s like keeping it real and just making it about the dance. I would love to do a video like that.”

But wait. Your first video ever was for ‘…Baby One More Time’, right? So what old days are you talking about, where sex wasn’t a part of it? Did you never want sex to be a part of your image?

Basically what it sounds like to me is that unfortunately, Britney still isn’t in control of her life or her career or her image. She’s still under conservatorship by her father, so she actually has a surprisingly passive role in her own career. It’s just so sad to see, because the life she’s forced to work so hard for isn’t really her own. And the response from her father and manager only convince me of that further:

“Britney is never pressured into anything. She reviews all creative and for her ‘Work Bitch’ video she discussed toning down some parts in finding a balance of sexy and being a mom.”

Skeeves me out, guys. Skeeves me out.

I think the author is reading way to much into this. Why so much hate? It seems Britney wasn’t confused at all. So what if Brit wants to edit more now that she is a mother? So what if she wants more dance than hyper-sexualized nonsensical drama? When she hit the pop scene, she was a dancer. I don’t mind that she is appreciative of her past.

But she didn’t edit…she says she wanted to, but she didn’t. I just want to know why not.
