Amanda Bynes’ Mom Finally Issues A Statement, Tells Everybody To STFU

Amanda Bynes attending event May 2009I really have to hand it to the family of Amanda Bynes. They’ve had plenty of chances to capitalize on the drama happening with their daughter right now and all summer, but they’re electing to keep to themselves and give her the best possible shot at recovery.

I know it might sound crazy to be so impressed by parents being…well…parental, but let’s not forget that we live in a world in which Michael Lohan takes it upon himself to issue statements insulting one of his daughters for getting plastic surgery to look like another one, and Kris Jenner‘s previously unheard-of younger sister comes out of the woodwork to make comments on her niece’s marriage. When your family members are famous enough that information about them is worth actual money, the opportunities for exploitation are endless.

Which is why I think it’s so great that Amanda’s mom Lynn has maintained her silence for this long. And even in the statement she’s issuing now, she remains very private, scolding the media for jumping to unfounded conclusions about something as private as Amanda’s health but providing no additional fuel for any of the rumors. Here’s what she said to People Magazine:

“I would really like everyone out there to know that almost 99% of the things written about my daughter in various media outlets are false or misleading. Unless it’s a statement issued by our family attorney, Tamar Arminak, please take everything you read about Amanda with a grain of salt.”

She doesn’t call out individual stories, which I think is wise because it might send outlets into a tailspin trying to figure out what is true and what isn’t. She just basically reminds us that we have absolutely no idea what we’re talking about. The only thing confirmed at this time is that Amanda has been hospitalized since July 22nd, and was recently moved from UCLA Medical Center to a more long-term facility in Malibu.

“Please know that neither myself or other family members have ever released any information regarding her treatment or diagnosis. We truly believe in keeping our daughter’s situation private for now. We appreciate everyone’s heartfelt support and we hope that she can get some privacy and the respect she deserves during this trying time. Both my husband and I love Amanda very much and we know that she will get through this situation.”

Yeah I mean, it really is none of our business. I‘m as guilty as the rest of the internet for printing information that I read on TMZ, but ultimately this is a woman’s health that we’re talking about, and it’s not appropriate for us to speculate one way or the other. We hope Amanda gets the help she needs, and we’re really glad that her parents are proving so supportive during this difficult period.

parents who love their children will always put them first and absorb the blows and remain silent as it should be as a statement of Love and commitment , I think the problem is not of Amanda’s making , it’s owned by the people who exploited her, and would have pushed that to the extreme, had she remained in the entertainment industry , she retired rather than being exploited in a negative way , a very courageous young woman ,

Yeah I definitely don’t think mental illness is of someone’s own doing.

    • CrazyLogic

It might not even be that. As sad as it is, sometimes mental illness just happens for no reason other than your brain going, “you know what, I want to totally fuck you over”

Mental illness doesn’t just happen , the same as there are no accidents only planned events , Women are more vulnerable that men it makes them more attractive to men as much as it makes them a target for them as sexual prey , that’s why I am against Porn , did I strike a nerve with you , did you want Amanda to be exploited ?? I don’t , so would you mind telling me what the second comment is about because I’m at a loss for what your trying to say ,

I do not want anyone to be exploited. And I am not interested in a debate about porn. What I’m saying is that claiming mental illness always has a cause in life events is a gross oversimplification. I also find the implication that women are more likely to be mentally ill offensive, and I sincerely hope I read that sentence wrong. What I meant was that it could be that Amanda’s previous career as a child actress could have all of nothing to do with her current problems.

What I mean is that mental illness isn’t always caused by life events. There are cases and moments when it’s no one’s fault, there are cases where it’s simply caused by a chemical imbalance, there are cases where genetics alone fuck you over. So no, it doesn’t “just happen” because there ARE factors, but it can seem sudden and out of nowhere to everyone else because they’re completely invisible and silent. Implying that something HAS to happen for someone to become schizophrenic or bipolar or what have you causes even more misunderstandings about how it works. Fact is normal people that have lived completely normal and uneventful lives and still developed mental illness, and the fact that there are people who don’t or refuse to understand this can cause a lot more harm than it seems.

For example, assuming it’s all outside influences is something my brother believes when it comes to anxiety disorders, and because of this, he ridicules me for taking medication for mine and refuses to understand that sometimes I get tense and anxious for no reason and that when I say “I can’t do anything today because I’m in panic attack mode” I actually mean that if I do anything I’ll have a moment of not being able to breathe. This causes a vicious cycle where attacks that would normally be minor become worse because he inadvertently causes stimulus where there was none by mishandling the situation.

I’m sorry if I wasn’t entirely clear, I have trouble expressing myself at times. I hope this clarifies things.

if you study Amanda’s career you will see that she never did nudity , she was always funny selling comedy and not sexuality , once they saw her as an adult (what kind of parts do you think they saw her playing ) the parts they offered her were parts she probably did not want to do , rather than cheapen herself she retired , there are things that I can’t talk about other than to say that electronic devices and compartmentalization programing can cause the same issues , but these things are not her fault nor should we view her as being defective in any way because of exterior forces which may have acted upon her, who can blame her for not wanting to do what she was told to do if it violated her moral values , you should check out Monarch programing and the ultra mind control , check out youtube for mind control

    • CrazyLogic

I did not mean to imply anyone was defective. There is nothing wrong or shameful about being mentally ill or being predisposed to it because of your genetic code. I am not judging Amanda Bynes for anything in her career, any choices she made relating to it or her personal life. I’m not even talking about her personally, I’m just pointing out that the automatic assumption that someone or something is at fault when it comes to psychiatric problems can be hurtful because at times there is no specific trigger.

    • Joseph La

there you go again , my contention is if there was any chemical imbalance of the brain or genetic abnormality it would have manifested itself long before this , to say that it is coming on at this point in her life at the same time that she has made statements concerning her past treatment is too coincidental for me , I would very much like to depose her with a battery of questions to ascertain the cause ,but, doubtless to say not having access to her I can only speculate with a theorem as to what has caused it

    • CrazyLogic

For all we know, it has been for years, Miss Bynes has just chosen to keep her personal life out of the media as much as she can. Or she could be like several relatives of mine where it seemed to appear overnight to everyone and only hindsight can tell us something was wrong.

We don’t know her life. We don’t know her, we only know what she wants us to know and have a layman’s understanding of the subject of mental illness. Could it be that her childhood made her current problems worse than they would have been otherwise, or it could be that it’s completely unrelated. It’s not fair to anyone to just assume any one thing is the cause or that there are specific people to blame.

I just hope she feels better soon. I grew up watching her and I had hoped she was happy when she vanished from the spotlight.

    • Joseph La

I agree that she is entitled to all the privacy you or I am , we don’t know her life or the effect of fame on it , I do sense that she is of sound mind and needs the counsel of the one that carried her to term , in this case Mothers know best ,
