If you snuggled into bed last night, sad that there wasn’t a movie that combines comedy and insight seamlessly, possibly on the topic of divorce, but definitely starring Adam Scott, then be sad no more. A.C.O.D., the movie with the awesome cast (Amy Poehler, Clark Duke, Jane Lynch, Jessica Alba and Richard Jenkins, to name a few) has an equally great plot, which involves the adult child of divorced parents having to revisit the chaos of his childhood when his younger brother decides to tie the knot. If you’re of the school of thought that realistic story lines make for the best comedy, then you’ll love this movie. And if you aren’t, then come join the club, because they absolutely do.
So, I don’t know about you (this is a perfect chance for me to talk about feeling 22, but I won’t take it), but I’m strapping on my running gear now in preparation for my race to the theater when this comes out. Especially with the promise that Amy Poehler is playing Adam Scott’s step-mom instead of his wife like on Parks & Recreation. My brain will likely be very confused, but what’s living if you don’t spend a few hours playing mind games with yourself? I could rant for hours about my love for Amy and Adam —and I will in my diary later on— but for now, I’ll just leave you with a reminder of the magical things that have come out of these two working together. Do you remember The Greatest Event In Television History? Because, boy, do I. And A.C.O.D. is a full-length movie, which means that the fun is multiplied! See you at the theaters, internet.
A.C.O.D. hits U.S. theaters Friday October 4, 2013.
