Even though Nathan Sykes of The Wanted is currently dating Mariah Carey’s long-lost little sister Ariana Grande, it sounds like Selena Gomez might have been the one that got away… to have an on-and-off relationship with an adult infant. MTV reports that in an interview with We Love Pop magazine from before he confirmed his new romance, Nathan explained his crush on Selena. And it sounds like he might have a few notebooks under his bed with “Mr. Gomez” doodled on every page.
It all starts when Nathan says he’s jealous of his bandmate Max George because when he follows someone on Twitter, the tabloids turn it into a relationship.
“He follows someone on Twitter, then he is in the tabloids saying he is in a relationship. I started following the Selena Gomez and nothing. Where is my relationship?!”
Um, hey there Nathan, how you doing today? You know that Twitter isn’t some kind of magic cyber genie lamp that makes the people you follow fall in love with you, right? If that were the case I’d have A LOT of awesome celebrities in love with me. And also some businesses like Starbucks. That would just be awkward.
But that’s not all. Nathan also revealed that pretty much the only thing stopping him from pursuing his dream love was a little feller by the name of Justin Bieber.
“To be honest, I always liked Selena, but I really did not want to go that side because Justin would kill me! I would probably receive a call from [our mutual manager] Scooter [Braun] telling me to stay away!”
Ah, the notorious Scooter Braun strikes again, keeping Nathan away from his ain true love. If we’re being honest here, I don’t really blame Nathan for having a crush on Selena. I have a crush on her too. I’m just a little worried that when he and Ariana serenade each other at the piano on date night, there’ll be a little thought bubble over his head with this image playing on a loop:
But Ariana Grande looks really cute in overalls and has the soulful voice of the fiercest angel in Heaven. She’s not second best! She’s just best. I don’t want her to turn into the Jennifer Connelly in this situation. Don’t be the Jennifer Connelly, Ariana!
