After months of denying us the simple pleasure of seeing Kim Kardashian and Kanye West out and about together, the Pop Culture Gods have answered our prayers by sending them to Paris Fashion Week this year. Kim and Ye — affectionately called Kimye by my circle of friends — are finally together again. I don’t want to speak too soon, but I do want to be the first entertainment journalist(ish) to go on the record and say that it’s a couple comeback for the ages. And that’s not just because Kanye’s jacket has a hint of fur at the bottom. It’s because they’re so incredibly in love. With themselves. But also, in moments of weakness, with each other.
Earlier this weekend, they graced us with their post-plane casual wear and immediately reminded us why they became know as fashion’s “it-iest” couple last year. (It-iest in French usually translates into “why are you here?”)
“It’s inspired by Carmen Sandiego,” Kim said confidentially to a reporter, before remembering that Kanye had asked her not to speak without permission, “I mean, no comment. I mean, ugh, I am in so much trouble!”
And then, later at night, they graced us again (!) at the Givenchy Woman’s Wear show.
“Lord Voldemort’s a fashion icon and as a fellow fashion icon who prefers Lord over Mr., I naturally picked up on the trend that he’d started before his untimely death. And that trend is to look like you could shape shift into an oversized bat at any moment,” Kanye was overheard saying to himself in the men’s room as scrawled genius in red lipstick over and over again on the mirror.
While the exhaustion of pretending to enjoy each other’s company probably forced them to retire for the evening as soon as the show ended, we’re excited to see what else Kimye has up their sleeve for the rest of this visit back into society. Well besides Kanye’s hand. That’s up that sleeve right? Can anyone tell me where Kanye’s hand is in that photo?
