People get real excited these days talking about how horrible teenagers are now that they’re being raised by Facebook and Abbreviations. But this amazing ”Roar” lip dub from Lakewood High School gave me hope that they’re not all a bunch of soulless monsters looking to rip apart their classmates on social media. In fact, according to this video, they’re an amazingly organized group of human beings who are capable of creating very cool things. They’re like adults, but with more braces!
And while I don’t publicly talk about my obsession with “Roar” due to the whole “copy ‘n paste” issue, I’d be straight up lying to you if I said I didn’t listen to it on the reg. It’s just my kinda jam. It’s pop-y, it’s Sara Bareilles-y and it’s inspirational-y. Why, I feel like I can do anything when I listen to it! Then I go for a run that quickly turns into a lesiurely walk and I remember that even the most powerful songs can’t make you work out. But that’s a personal issue I’m working out with my body at the moment that you don’t need to read about. (However if you know of songs that will make me want to choose working out my body instead of working out my couch cushions, please share!)
While I don’t know anything about Lakewood High School besides what I creepily googled just now, I do know that it took serious amounts of coordination (physical and otherwise) to make this video happen. Not only did they have to map this whole video out, but they have to find enough students at the school who were capable of singing while dancing backward AT THE SAME TIME. As a human who’s not capable of doing either of those things separately, I’m beyond impressed. Go Tigers!?
