The Next Big Thing: 20 Music Artists You’ll Know In A Year

Summer is arguably the biggest season for music, what with the seemingly endless parade of major music festivals and the pressure to achieve “summer jam” status. Now that the season is just about over and you’ve heard songs like “Get Lucky” and “We Can’t Stop” more times than you thought possible, we’re left wondering: what will be the breakout hits of next summer? Who will occupy places on the chart held by artists like Bruno Mars and Demi Lovato this time next year?

According to Billboard, the number one song of summer 2013 is “Blurred Lines,” surprising approximately no one. Controversy = hits and Robin Thicke knows it. But the number two song is “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons, and we’re pretty excited about that here at Crushable. Why? Because we told you they’d be famous in our “Next Big Thing” music feature last year, and we even got to interview them. You heard it here first, folks. Our list last year also featured some other names you might be more familiar with now – Iggy Azalea and Cher Lloyd, to name a few. So who will be a smash hit this time next year? Keep reading to discover our top 20 artists to watch.

Oh man, I can’t wait to go through this later and make myself a killer Spotify playlist.

I MADE ONE. And can probably share it with you.

I am failing desperately. How does the internet work?

      • GarnetHenderson

I sent it to you, but it’s really dumb that Spotify doesn’t have public links for playlists!

      • Alexis Rhiannon

        Sent it to me how?

      • GarnetHenderson

On Spotify. I’ve never done it before, but I pressed “send to” and then selected your name… maybe check Spotify? But I also shared it on FB on Twitter so maybe that’s easier.

Alt-J is already really popular! And they’re not really that similar to Vampire Weekend..

Timeflies rapped about me in a freestyle during a show last year. And then personally apologized to me later for crowd surfing on me. Because I was in a neck brace at the time. Totally worth it!
