Congratulations to Seth Meyers and Alexi Ashe, who according to Us Weekly got married this past Sunday. Alexi certainly got that white dress in under the wire before Labor Day, am I right? Actually I’ve heard that brides are allowed to wear white dresses all year round so I suppose that comment was uncalled for. I’m just feeling a little testy because I just read the guest list for this wedding and I think I’m going to have to file a police report. Seth and Alexi totally stole these guests straight out of my dreams. Just reached into my brain while I was sleeping all Inception-style and crafted the perfect guest list out of all the people I gab with over dream-brunch. I thought dream-brunch was sacred! I mean, just look at all the people who showed up.
The newlyweds were feted around 150 guests for the big day, including famous pals Olivia Munn, Allison Williams, Ali Larter, Rashida Jones and Jack McBrayer. Some of his SNL friends who attended included Lorne Michaels, Amy Poehler, Fred Armisen, Taran Killam, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Wiig, Will Forte and Kenan Thompson.
I guess it makes sense that those people would go, since Seth is kind of known for SNL and they’re also kind of known for SNL, but what I wouldn’t give to be a fly on that wall! Who sat beside whom and what did they talk about? Who gave a toast at the reception? Did anyone do one of those tapping-on-the-glass-and-breaking-it pranks? Did Kristen Wiig and Fred Armisen put on festive vests and do a Garth and Kat routine? I’m already super jealous that the wedding took place on Martha’s Vineyard and the rehearsal dinner was outside at Beetlebung Farm House. I don’t even want to get married, but if I did, I’d want the rehearsal dinner to be at a place called Beetlebung. Or Tweedledum or Fiddledeedee or something similarly whimsical.
When Seth takes over on Late Night next year, he best spend the entire premiere presenting a slideshow of photos from the event. I’m just sad Bill Hader wasn’t there to help recreate Seth and Stefon’s beautiful nuptials. I would have also accepted him showing up dressed as the President of Hollywood. But we can’t always get what we want, I suppose.
