I’m just thinking back over the canon of Kristen Stewart quotes that I’m aware of, and now that I really put my mind to it, I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard her even imply that she might possibly maybe enjoy acting. She doesn’t enjoy being famous, she doesn’t enjoy having her picture taken, or dressing up, or getting visible tattoos, or having public relationships, or dancing, or smiling, or having her privacy invaded…why does this girl keep taking movie roles? I’m not even copping an attitude here, I’m just trying to understand why someone would possibly continue to do something they seem to dislike so much.
I mean, just look at this new quote that Kristen gave in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily (which is apparently still a magazine) about the movie she’s filming in Germany right now, Sils Maria:
“It takes two very particular people to have that relationship be functional—one that services the other—because Juliette Binoche is playing the actress that I assist, and she is one of the most powerful women I think I’ve ever seen in film. I’m going to try desperately to not be squashed by a woman like that, and it’s not going to be an easy thing.”
I feel like most actors probably would’ve thrown in some indicator that they were invested and interested in the project, right? Maybe an ‘I’m looking forward to the challenge’ or ‘I’m so lucky to work with her’ or something. Not that she should adjust the way that she is, I just have nooooo idea why she continues to agree to these projects when she voices absolutely no enthusiasm about them.
Just look at her word choice ‘try desperately’…’not going to be an easy thing’. Is she starting a movie or beginning an imprisonment in a coal mine? I don’t know about you, but I think I’d start to dread my workday too, if I spent it with the sole goal of avoiding a brutal squashing. Even if it was on a film set.
