In news so exciting that I just chest-bumped one million angels, The Golden Globes have (finally) asked Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to host again. While I naturally assumed that they asked them to return the second after last year’s show ended, I guess the people over there play a little harder to get than that.
“Even though you ladies managed to pull off the greatest hosting job in the history of hosting, we’re going to sit on this for awhile and get back to you. Give us about 8 to 9 months to figure out if we want to destroy this country’s morale by asking someone else to host. Mmmkay….Okay, hi it’s us, The Golden Globes, if you’re not busy on January 12th, do you wanna, I don’t know, makes James Cameron cry again?”
While playing hard to get might be a surefire plan to win over your 7th grade crush, it doesn’t really work in the world of show business. Especially when you’re dealing with powerhouses like Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. As usual Amy Poeher will be spending this year producing and starring in her hit show, Parks and Rec. And Tina Fey will continue her domination of the television world by working not one, but two whole shows. That doesn’t leave much room in either of their schedules to host the show.
However –and this is a however that I hope goes straight from this blog to God’s ears — they’ve worked miracles before and I know they can work them again. I’m praying that they say yes to this offer and figure out the details (like how to put more time in each day) after they’ve already signed their contracts. I think I speak for all of us when I see that we need this to happen.
