Ah, celebrity relationships. It seems like every other day we have a new couple on our hands, and it’s our job as human beings to decide within two seconds of hearing their names in the same sentence whether we approve or not. It’s a difficult task, but we get her done. Go humans! These celebrities find their way into each others’ hearts in various ways, from accidentally receiving the other person’s tub of golden popcorn at the MTV Movie Awards to being introduced by their mutual, not-as-famous friend, to signing a contract in their publicist’s office. But sometimes they meet doing what they love — staring at themselves in the mirror. No, wait, that’s not it. I meant working. They love working. These twelve famous couples met on the set, and they’re all still together (that we know of). And can you blame them for hooking up? I mean, their jobs entailed making out with another very attractive person. I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often. And it already happens a lot. A LOT.
1. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Let’s start with our most controversial on-and-off-screen couple, shall we? Brad and Angelina met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2004 while Brad was still married to Jennifer Aniston. And so began the Team Jolie/Team Aniston nightmare we’ve all tried to forget for the past nine years. One divorce, six kids, and fifteen thousand false Jennifer Aniston pregnancy stories later, Brangelina are still together. And it all started on the set of that movie I never saw.
2. Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult
Our favorite girl crush got together with our favorite guy named Nicholas (it’s true, isn’t it?) on the set of their 2011 superhero movie X-Men: First Class, and even broken up we thought they were the cutest. But they got back together while filming the sequel and now all’s right with the world. And considering the fact that they both walked around set with matching blue makeup, it’s not exactly surprising that they bonded.
3. Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin
It’s not all about Twilight! Some vampire story co-stars go on to get married instead of spending two hours at each others’ houses after they were SUPPOSED TO BE BROKEN UP. Ahem, excuse me. These two play Bill and Sookie on True Blood, but in real life they’re Mom and Dad — to twins!
4. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone
Something magical happened on the set of 2012′s The Amazing Spider-Man when Spidey and Gwen Stacy got together in real life and formed arguably the cutest celebrity couple we’ve got these days. They adopted a dog together, they photobomb each other, and they’re just all around adorable, both individually and as a unit.
5. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner
Remember in 2003 when Ben Affleck played that other superhero Daredevil, before Twitter exploded in rage upon learning he would play Batman? Jennifer Garner was his Elektra, and as a result we got Bennifer 2.0, which then led to little girls named after flowers and a really awkward Oscar acceptance speech that made people think they were getting a divorce. Hurray!
6. Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy
You might not remember it because it wasn’t a big blockbuster and also wasn’t especially good, but in 2007 a movie called Evening came out starring Hugh Dancy and Claire Danes. Although it hasn’t been as obsessed over as the affair between Angie and Brad, Claire and Hugh (who are now married with a son) reportedly got together while Claire was still dating Billy Crudup. Which is pretty ironic considering their relationship started when Billy left his pregnant girlfriend Mary-Louise Parker to be with her. Home-wrecking all around!
7. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr.
Is there any better story to tell your kids than “Yeah, your parents met filming a classic ’90s thriller called I Know What You Did Last Summer and then pretended to be Daphne and Fred from Scooby Doo and got paid for it”? No, there isn’t. That’s the best story. And these two have been married for almost eleven years, so it clearly was no joke.
8. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth
Oh, right! Miley Cyrus used to act and wear clothes and stuff! And she starred in that movie The Last Song with Liam Hemsworth in 2010. These two are still together, they would have us believe, although no word on whether the engagement ring is at the dry cleaner’s today.
9. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sam Taylor-Wood
It’s not just actors who make a love connection on set. Sometimes it’s also the director and his or her muse. In this case, Sam Taylor-Wood’s muse happened to be 23 years younger than her. No biggie. They met on the set of Nowhere Boy in 2009 and got married in 2012. Oh, and as you can see above, he took part of her name. Say what you will about them, but they’re certainly bucking tradition.
10. Freida Pinto and Dev Patel
Did anyone watch Slumdog Millionaire in 2008 and not obsess over the romance between Dev and Freida’s characters, and also the film in general? I think you’d be hard up to find someone. These two are still going strong, probably due to those awesome dance numbers they learned together. I bet they still pull those moves out at parties and the whole crowd moves out of the way to watch them. Or at least I hope that’s what they do.
11. Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes
Yes, Eva Mendes gets to date God, and it’s all because they starred together in this year’s The Place Beyond the Pines. And if she hadn’t already fallen for him when they first met (haha, that’s a good one), I’m sure the way he held that adorable baby probably did it.
12. Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman
These two didn’t meet while working on a movie or a TV show, although Megan did go on to guest star as Nick’s ex-wife on Parks and Rec. They met while rehearsing a play called The Berlin Circle in 2000. And since then they’ve been one of the most underrated celebrity couples in existence. Seriously, why don’t we talk about these two more? They’re amazing.
