Ah, the celebrity Twitter feud. Is there anything in modern society more thrilling than watching two famous people insult each other in real time, knowing full well that anyone can see it? Go to as many Michael Bay movies as you want, but nothing is more epic than a celeb Twitter war. And the best news is that these celebrities still haven’t learned! Frenemies Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton are battling it out, and Kim Kardashian extended her beef with Katie Couric all the way to Instagram. Stars have a tendency to realize the error of their ways quickly after posting, however, leading to what we at Crushable like to call the “tweletion.” But their words live on in our memories. And also in screencaps. And quotes. You might have trouble remembering some of these epic feuds, but have no fear. We’ve got a list of eleven perfectly good ones right here.
1. LeAnn Rimes vs. Brandi Glanville
@leannrimes I told Eddie to please tell you that I think it is highly inappropriate for you to sing in my sons class on Friday. Boundries!!
— Brandi Glanville (@BrandiGlanville) February 15, 2011
You might remember how country-singer-turned-annoying-person LeAnn Rimes had an affair with Real Housewife Brandi Glanville’s husband Eddie Cibrian and then married him. So it wasn’t too shocking when these ladies got into a bit of a tiff. A lot of it had to do with LeAnn’s relationship with Brandi’s kids, and it also involved misspellings, as you can see above. They kinda sorta made up, but that didn’t last long, since just this past May they tweeted various passive aggressive comments without mentioning each other’s names. I love when they make us read between the lines.
2. Demi Lovato vs. Selena Gomez
Yeah.. It’s just kind of hard to miss somebody that I don’t know anymore.
— demetria lovato (@ddlovato) October 4, 2009
These two have since made up, but do you remember back in 2009 when they had a falling out? I don’t, because I think that was around the time I thought they were the same person. Demi started hanging out with Miley Cyrus, and when Miley posted a pic of the two of them on the red carpet with the caption “Now this is what true friendship looks like. None of that Hollywood cr*p,” Demi then tweeted the above statement. Selena bit her tongue on Twitter, but that didn’t stop her from talking about the feud in interviews, saying, “True friends don’t let their friends or family be mean to you.” Glad these two have matured. Miley’s still being Miley.
3. John Mayer vs. Perez Hilton
@johncmayer Dude, I get it. I GET IT. But it’s not fucking funny to me. Karma would be me losing my site and going bankrupt or what have u.
— Perez Hilton (@PerezHilton) June 23, 2009
Perez Hilton has gotten into feuds with pretty much everybody at one point or another, but somehow the pairing with John Mayer seemed particularly unexpected. Remember in 2009 when Perez called Will.i.am a gay slur? John Mayer was not happy about it, and he directed a series of angry tweets at Perez, at one point suggesting he train in an old martial art called “Never Call A Black Dude a Faggot Jitsu,” to which Perez replied with tweets like the one above. Then Kirstie Alley got involved somehow and the whole thing spiraled out of control.
4. Azealia Banks vs. Everyone
— YUNG RAPUNXEL (@AZEALIABANKS) July 11, 2013
Azealia Banks is very fond of insulting people in 140 characters or less. Take, for instance, Lily Allen, whose husband she declared looked “like a thumb.” When Lily said Azealia was a “one hit wonder,” Azealia shared the lovely comment above. Azealia has also insulted Miley Cyrus and Angel Haze. That feud led her to hand her Twitter account over to her label in April. As you can see, it didn’t last long.
5. Lindsay Lohan vs. Samantha Ronson
Uh, yeah. Remember in 2009 when these two were an item? And remember when Lindsay felt the need to air their private conflicts all over Twitter, even going so far as to accuse Sam of of cheating on her in early 2010? Lindsay of course played the tweletion game. Oh, LiLo.
6. George Lopez vs. Kirstie Alley
Don’t worry about George’s comments…just remember what happens to the big bad, drunk woolf…falls in a boiling pot of vodka.Piggy laughs
— Kirstie Alley (@kirstiealley) March 24, 2011
It’s not always the young up-and-comers who air their feuds on social media. Sometimes you get people like George Lopez and Kirstie Alley going at it in the public eye. When George made comments about Kirstie’s weight on Dancing With the Stars, saying she “she went to the market and then she had roast beef” like a little piggy, Kirstie didn’t take it lying down, sending the above tweet. See what she did there? Because wolves and pigs? You get it.
7. Sarah Palin vs. Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold should have landed; I could have explained our multi-billion dollar state surplus & US energy security efforts. What’s he been up to?
— Sarah Palin (@SarahPalinUSA) September 10, 2010
Uh oh, we’re getting political up in here. After Sarah Palin made that infamous “I can see Russia from my house” comment, Arnold tweeted that he was flying over Alaska but couldn’t see Russia. Sarah tweeted back by bragging about her state. Yawn. Where have these two been lately?
8. Donald Trump vs. Rosie O’Donnell
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 10, 2012
These two loud-mouths have been going at it since 2006, if you can believe it. Rosie expressed her distaste for Donald on The View (remember?), and Donald of course felt the need to respond. The feud has continued off and on, and just last year Donald felt the need to bring Rosie up when insulting Cher, because he’s Donald Trump. Rosie them responded by comparing Donald to herpes. So much class all around.
9. One Direction vs. The Wanted
@TomTheWanted Pal, we both know I wouldn’t waste my time auditioning for your band. You humour me with your bad boy persona.
— Louis Tomlinson (@Louis_Tomlinson) April 8, 2013
Now we’re talking. Clearly there can only be one British boy band in the world, so when two of them arrive on the scene, there’s bound to be some friction. One of the highlights was when One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and The Wanted’s Tom Parker insulted each other with links to each other’s interviews and performances. It was a Twitter miracle.
10. Kourtney Kardashian vs. Farrah Abraham
Im Shocked Kourtney Kardashian is pregnant again, Did she not learn anything from TEEN MOM? Maybe its a fake pregnancy like kims wedding SAD
— Farrah Abraham (@F1abraham) December 2, 2011
Back when Farrah Abraham was just a teen mom and hadn’t starred in that whole sex tape thing, she got her kicks insulting Kourtney Kardashian on Twitter. Kourtney responded by politely informing Farrah that she’s not a teenager, thank you very much, writing, “Why would I have anything to do with teen mom? I’m 32 years old! I may look young honey, but don’t get it twisted.”
11. Rihanna vs. Ciara
My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u? #howrudeofme
— Rihanna (@rihanna) February 26, 2011
Back in 2011, Ciara went on Fashion Police and said she had a not-so-pleasant run-in with Rihanna. RiRi caught wind of it and sent the above tweet. I don’t know why she used so much shorthand. She had plenty of characters left. Eventually the two made up and zzzz, boring.
