Girls Has Been Filming For Five Months And Yet This Is The Season 3 Teaser?

Girls season three teaser trailer August 2013I’m no film expert, so I need someone to explain to me how a show like Girls can be shooting for five months and still have nothing to show for it but a collection of still photographs from on-set with some music in the background? This is a teaser trailer? This is like if your parents went to Hawaii for five months without you and literally brought you back one of those shirts that says, “My Parents Went To Hawaii And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt”.

But seriously guys, why is the third season of this show taking so long to shoot? Apparently there won’t be any new episodes until 2014, which is especially odd when you consider that HBO seasons are only ten episodes long. They did finally release a teaser trailer today, like I said, but you have to have scary robot speed-reading eyes to be able to glean anything from it without pausing every half-second. I briefly saw people in bikinis and a lot of clapboards and Lena Dunham faces, but it’s very hard for me to make wild assumptions about the plot of next season when you give me so little to work with!

Honestly, what are they doing over there, though? It makes me imagine Lena Dunham calling everyone to set and mistaking their film day for a hangout. “OMG you guys, is it 8:00pm already? I completely forgot to get any of this on camera! Totally fun hang though, right? I love Williamsburg!” And then she goes skipping off into the sunset, stripping off her clothing as she disappears over the horizon. Forever and ever amen.

Finally a good advertisement for clapboards! They don’t get enough attention.

I was hoping they’d be well represented in Season Three. Hannah having that brief relationship with one at the beginning of Season Two just wasn’t enough for me.

well first of all, this is a production teaser, not a season 3 teaser, so that explains that. Second of all, season 2 started filming at the exact same time and premiered the end of january in 2013. Third of all, they are actually picked up for 12 episodes this season, not 10, so it will take longer to shoot. Fourth of all, they did the same production teaser around the same time for season 2. And finally, I’m sure they’re done filming, but they don’t want to release a trailer too far in advance because it kills buzz. HBO has a set season, where each show premieres at the same time each year (occasionally switched around), so even if they are done filming, they probably wouldn’t release an actual teaser trailer until closer to the release date.

Well I guess they are still filming, but either way, filming takes awhile. Especially considering they are filming a solid amount of this season outside of new york.

        That was very informative!
