We've got a growing obsession with Shailene Woodley and her lovably weird ways over here at Crushable. She's just so quirky and unafraid to be herself, and I can't get enough of it. Now she's giving us even more reason to like her by cutting off her hair and donating it to charity. And as an added bonus, her new hairdo looks adorable. Earlier this week Shailene posted about her upcoming haircut on her Tumblr page, explaining that it's to help her transform into cancer patient Hazel Grace Lancaster for the film adaptation of the novel The Fault in Our Stars. She encouraged others to donate their own hair to the charity Children With Hair Loss, which makes wigs for children with medically-related hair loss. Shailene was her usual free-spirited self when describing her decision.
as some of you may know, i will be cutting my hair off this coming weekend in order to help morph my physical body into that of the incredible Hazel Grace Lancaster—-and i couldn’t be more amped. not only do i have the opportunity to externally shift my current establishment of self, but i have the blessed gift of donating my long locks to a wonderful organization who will then create a wig for someone in need. WHAT AN HONOR.
Shailene shared a picture of her new look on Twitter Friday night, and of course it looks adorable. Is she ever not smiley and bubbly and in a good mood? It's infectious, I tell you! I'm smiling right now just looking at her smiling. I think it's pretty silly to attach so much meaning to the length of a person's hair, and it annoys me beyond belief when celebrities get haircuts and the world goes into a frenzy over it (ahem, Beyonce, ahem). HOWEVER, when it goes to a good cause and brings awareness to an issue like this, I say hurray! As Shailene added in the caption for her Twitpic, #itgrowsback. Amen, sister friend.
Now put on your weird toe shoe thingies and go take over Hollywood with your new haircut, Shailene!
