If this New Parks and Rec ‘Attack of the Knope’ Video Doesn’t Win An Oscar, I Quit TV

Sometimes you see something that makes you stop, put down the Candy Crush, and really look at the world differently. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, this Parks and Recreation video starring Amy Poehler entitled “Attack of the Knope” is one of those videos.

It’s been out for a little while, but we couldn’t in good consciousness sit idly by hoping, wishing, praying on a star that you’ve seen it already. That wouldn’t be responsible journalism. So be brought it to you, the people.

Switching out of my Matlock voice, how GOOD is this video? The Leslie Knope character is so hyperbolic that of COURSE you have to make her sound bites into a horror film trailer. My favorite is “The only thing I will be waving is your decapitated head on a stick in front of your weeping mother.” And who knew the Knope cackle could be so… menacing?

In the vid, it seems like Ann is the murder victim, Ben the one who tries to talk some sense into her, and Ron who, natch, saves the day. And in the wake of some already bad news about the show, this couldn’t come at a better time.

Sure, maybe the “point” of this video is to advertise the new season of Parks and Rec. But it’s also so much more than that. It says to the world, “Hey world, things might not be all great all the time, but we’re still a society and sometimes in society you have to have fun for the sake of fun. And that includes cutting clips from our television show together in a surprising way to make you laugh. Because life isn’t about the grind. It’s about the grit that’s left over when the grind is done.” And feel free to share that easy-to-remember quote around at cocktail parties. I doubt you’ll regret it.

Oops. I think I switched out of my Matlock voice into my Lifetime Movie voice.

I’ve never realized how much P&R is filmed like a horror movie either, haha.

This show is better than any other show on television. Love Amy Poehler also!
