Very rarely do I read items about Hollywood couples and audibly guffaw over their cuteness, since so few of them seem to be authentic and/or last longer than a few months. Well, that’s definitely not the case with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, who are probably the closest thing to a perfect famous couple in existence. They’re very in control of the media coverage of their relationship, they don’t draw obnoxious attention to themselves, and they seem to genuinely respect and enjoy each other. So weird, right?
When asked what it’s like working with Emma on Spiderman 2, Andrew quickly made it known he would not be commenting on their personal life, but answered the question in a way that will make every girl hate their boyfriend:
“I love it. She’s a great gal, and, as we all know, a singular talent, like a completely unique, singular talent. She just was born like a purebred, in terms of you just say `go’ and she goes. It’s infuriating because I can’t keep up with it. So it’s beautiful to work with such an incredibly talented and wonderful person.”
So minus the purebred thing (how adorably British of him), that was an incredibly lovely thing to say! It’s so much better than the “she’s really great” answer he could have given. Way to go, Emma Stone. I bet those two never get in passive-aggressive shouting matches over the phone on Saturday afternoons that make you want to take off your engagement ring and feed it to the dog (not that I know anyone in such a relationship).
But seriously, that was such a sincere compliment that really speaks to how he views Emma in a way other than “yes this is the girl I date, she’s cool I guess.” I think it’s safe to say these two aren’t in a fakelationship for PR, because they make me forget I’m a cynical snark.
