When it comes to celebrities, it’s easy to think that they all look perfect all the time because when we see images of them, they usually do look perfect. They have great bodies, their skin is impossibly smooth and unblemished, and every day is a great hair day– this is not true. It’s just that when we see them on TV, in movies, on the internet, or in a magazine, they’re at their absolute best with stylists, lighting, and, a lot of the time, Photoshop all working to help them look their best. This is why it’s important to always read the words that go along with that celeb picture that makes you jealous and gets you nitpicking every inch of yourself. Celebrities can have a lot of positive words when it comes to body image. Those words may seem to contradict the pictures you see, but they really explain what’s behind them and get to the point that confidence is the most important thing when it comes to feeling attractive.
Here are five great body image quotes from five inspirational young celebs.
Demi Lovato on changing her opinions on what makes her feel beautiful after dealing with depression and an eating disorder:
“I used to feel my most beautiful when I was on the red carpet or at events or something where I’m all dolled up. Now I feel like the moment when I feel most beautiful is when I’m able to hang out with a guy without my makeup on or lay on the beach with no makeup on and not even worrying about what my hair or what I look like before I fall asleep. When I’m confident enough to show myself without makeup on, that’s when I feel my most confident.”
Kirsten Dunst on her unique front teeth:
“I love my snaggle fangs. They give me character and character is sexy.”
Taylor Swift on looking to others to feel good about herself:
“I definitely have body issues, but everybody does. When you come to the realization that everybody does that — even the people that I consider flawless — then you can start to live with the way you are.”
Jennifer Lawrence on eating healthy:
“I’m never going to starve myself for a part. I don’t want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner.’ That’s something I was really conscious of during training, when you’re trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong, not thin and underfed.”
And lastly, Emma Stone on simply living life to the fullest:
“You’re a human being, you live once and life is wonderful, so eat the damn red velvet cupcake.”
