I can’t believe Adele went ahead and got a head start on our BFF tattoos. I thought we had an agreement, girlfriend! We were gonna plan out exactly which image or word represented our relationship and hold each other’s hands while we got them applied. Now I see you’ve gone and been inked by Bang Bang Tattoos without even consulting me? And don’t even get me started on the fact that “Paradise” is not my name. And do I also have to point out that it’s not even close to being my face?
Okay, so I’ll admit that my conversation with Adele about the BFF tats only occurred in my dreams. It was a series of connected dreams in which she and I sang karaoke, shared a milkshake, and stayed up late gabbing about making our friendship permanent through symbolic tattoos. But is it so wrong of me to expect real-life Adele to keep to her dream-word? Yes it is, you say? That’s not how dreams work? Well excuuuuse me for believing in the magic of dreams.
As you can see from the photo above, which Bang Bang Tattoos posted on their Facebook page, Adele’s new tattoo is the word “Paradise” on the side of her hand. I for one am very happy to see a celebrity showing off a visible tattoo, after that fiasco earlier this week with Kristen Stewart and her imaginary wrist ink. I also appreciate that she chose a tattoo artist who admires the pure art that is Pixar. I haven’t seen Monsters University yet, but I probably will now that I know Adele’s tattoo artist is a fan. Overall, Adele really did the whole tattoo process right. That is, if I ignore the fact that this tattoo has nothing to do with our friendship.
I’m sure the speculation is already starting about what this new tattoo could mean. Adele already had the letter A tattooed on her neck, leading the whole world to believe it stands for “Angelo,” which everyone has decided must be her son’s name. It says a lot about Adele that we assumed it was her son’s initial and not just hers. If Kanye West got a K tattoo, I would assume it stood for Kanye, not Kim or Kardashian or even kerfuffle. But what does “Paradise” mean? Is it the name of a new song of hers? A new album? As long as it’s not the name of someone else who made a dream-tattoo-pact with her, I support her decision.
