Shailene Woodley Says She’s Not In Spider Man 2 After All…I Wonder If That’s True

Shailene Woodley filming on set of The Amazing Spider Man 2After already shooting multiple scenes for The Amazing Spider Man 2, it turns out that Shailene Woodley will actually not appear in that particular movie, with her character Mary Jane being pushed into the third film instead. Whomp whomp, sad cries echo throughout the deserted alleys of Woodley Village. But isn’t this what you guys wanted? Are you happy now? You’ve been very politely saying for months that Shailene was so ugly she didn’t deserve to be cast in this movie, and now she isn’t, so congratulations! You did it! I hope you’re real proud of yourselves, you open-minded beacons of positivity!

Shailene confirmed the news in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying:

“Of course I’m bummed. But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason. Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing [Mary Jane] until the next film.”

I don’t knooowwww, guys. I’m kind of suspicious. I feel like this could easily be one of those things where the studios release fake information so they can still surprise people with a twist ending on their movie. Maybe I’m being paranoid, but I feel like you already shot a lot of footage with Shailene, right? The studio is confirming the decision, however, with director Marc Web releasing the following statement:

“I made a creative decision to streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship. Shailene is an incredibly talented actress and while we only shot a few scenes with Mary Jane, we all love working with her.”

Okay guys. I’m not saying I actively disbelieve it, but I’m gonna be patting myself on the back pretty vigorously when this movie comes out in May 2014 if Shailene appears in it in addition to Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. I bet you think I’ll forget by then, or by June 2016 or May 2018 when the third and fourth installments are slated to come out, but I won’t. An elephant never forgets to congratulate herself on a twist ending well-predicted.
