Former Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens continues to literally shed the role of Matthew Crawley as he loses weight at an insane pace. Sorry, did I say insane? I meant inspiring. After all, we’re already in the throes of bikini season — it’s nice to see someone around here taking this time of year seriously. In a world where so many people are suddenly feeling at home in their own skin and taking Dove commercials to heart, it’s refreshing to see a celebrity who remembers what really counts. And that’s their looks.
Sure, sure, sure, he’s supposedly losing the weight for a role in the movie Summer in February. And sure the role’s rumored to be based on an Anne-Hathaway-like character who loses weight for her role in the musical Les Oatmealpastesquarebles. But still, I think we all owe him a “job well done!” on his Facebook wall for dropping those pounds.
And before you start being all, “uh, it’s unhealthy to lose that much weight in such a short amount of time!”, please remember that it’s only dangerous if you’re not a celebrity. If you’re famous, all the health risks go away. That’s just science guys. Need proof? Look at Matthew McConaughey. He’s a portrait of perfection now. Yes a few months ago he looked like he escaped from a locked cabinet in a morgue. But if you look at him now, you don’t see the skeletal frame and the sunken in eyes that once haunted your dreams. No, you see a potential Oscar winner!
So keep all this health information in mind when you see Dan Stevens popping up around town this summer sporting nothing but a skimpy bikini and a go-getter attitude. Or don’t see him. He’s six pounds away from being able to Alex Mack his way into events.
