Henry Cavill’s Man Of Steel Chemistry With Amy Adams Is Just A Job, Yo

Henry Cavill attending Tom Ford cocktail party February 2013 tuxedoI think Henry Cavill must have some idea of how absurdly handsome he is, because he’s taking a lot of steps to make sure that Man Of Steel moviegoers don’t jump directly out of their seats and into their automobiles to drive to where he is and commence wooing him. Namely, he wants to be very clear that his chemistry with Amy Adams (who plays the Louis Lane to his Clark Kent in the film) is a result of the two of them doing their jobs, not real life sparks or a Hollywood romance. So CALM DOWN. As he tells Interview:

“Well, it’s our job as actors to make it look like it’s not manufactured. If you have two actors who understand their characters—and therefore what they are trying to portray—then all they need to do is be the characters and there’s a chemistry there. I mean, there are these fantasies among people who watch movies where they’re like, “Oh, there’s a chemistry between them—something going on.” And sometimes there is. But for me, it’s more like, I go to work, I do a job, I play a role, and then I go home. I don’t wear a cape at home. I’m not an invulnerable alien at home. I’m not in love with a woman called Lois Lane at home. I know there are a lot of people who like to get very involved in their characters, but I, personally, find it too involved. I just like to do it as a job—and it’s my job to make it look real.”

Did you hear that guys? The movie is fake. So if you fall in love with his movie abs or his movie accent or his movie flirts, you’re dumb, you big dumb idiot, cause it’s all fake. So DON’T get excited about it, you hear me? It’s just a job, and he just happens to do it well.

And oh yeah, I did say his movie accent, thanks for noticing that. Because even though Henry uses an American dialect in the movie, he’s from Britain in real life, a fact that I intuited from his Wikipedia page saying so, and also because he has two middle names, one of which is ‘Dalgliesh’, which is British for ‘dead giveaway’.

And FYI, in case this whole “it’s just a job” thing doesn’t quite stick, and some ardent fans show up at his house, throwing-panties in hand, hoping for smooches, it’s important to note that Henry is currently dating Gina Carano, a mixed martial artist. I only mention it because you’d be surprised how many rabid fans find themselves unprepared for mixed martial arts. So why not do us both a favor and spare yourself the embarrassment of showing up at his house to get beaten up by a girl. Instead, you can ask leading questions to one of the film’s other stars, Dylan Sprayberry, who plays a young Clark Kent in the film. Now I’m no scientist, but I think that since Dylan plays a younger version of Henry, he should be able to speak authoritatively about what he thinks and feels, giving you a great opportunity to learn Superman’s likes and dislikes sans an embarrassing split lip. Tune in to Crushable’s Facebook today at 3:00pm EST to get the full dish, and ask Dylan any questions you want. See you there!
