You might have noticed that Amanda Bynes had quite the long weekend. It started early, on Thursday night, when she was arrested for throwing a bong out her window, and it continued through the weekend on Twitter, where she did everything from accusing the police of sexual harassment to reportedly insulting Rihanna. Before this there was a brief dry spell during which we weren’t hearing much from Amanda, and it seemed like maybe things were getting better, but it looks like that’s not the case. But now there’s a report that someone else famous for a very public breakdown is reaching out to help Amanda. And that someone is none other than Britney Spears.
The Celebrity Fix reports that Britney contacted Amanda before her arrest and encouraged her to get help from her parents. Britney’s father took out a conservatorship in 2008 which gave him control of her estate after her head-shaving, umbrella-wielding breakdown. And it seems to have worked for Britney, since she’s back to recording music and judging singing competitions (if that’s the test for successfully recovering from a breakdown).
The source also says Britney wants to help Amanda record music:
“Britney had a brief conversation with Amanda the week before her arrest and promised to personally help Amanda get her career back on track by helping her record music,” says the source.
Okay, so maybe that’s not the best route. And maybe this is all just a rumor. But even if it is, it does bring up some very relevant questions regarding who should be the one to help Amanda get back on track. If you ask me (and you didn’t), if her family can’t get through to her and there’s no way for the authorities to further intervene, maybe hearing from a fellow star whom Amanda apparently knows and who went through a similar experience in the public eye would help Amanda. At the very least, it would be someone trying to get through to her, and maybe that’s a good thing. Her situation becomes more and more disheartening by the day, and by the tweet.
