The past few days seems to have been dominated by Amanda Bynes drama, but let’s remember that it’s a 3-day weekend, and in addition to watching the new Arrested Development episodes, that calls for looking at cute pictures of Andrew Garfield on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Just when you thought the cutest photos to come out of the making of this sequel would be those involving Andrew and his girlfriend Emma Stone, we now have these new pics of Andrew hanging out in costume with his very own mini-me. And I just can’t handle it. They even hung out between takes.
On the movie’s set in Manhattan over the weekend, Andrew and child actor Jorge Vegas donned matching outfits to film a scene. And they risk dethroning “Zac Efron pretending to smoke weed” as the cutest thing to happen on a movie set this week. Just look at them striking matching superhero poses up there. Do you see those sneakers Jorge is wearing? I don’t know what this storyline is all about, but I am all for it. Even if it just involves Peter Parker taking his cousin trick-or-treating in matching costumes… through rubble and a swarm of cop cars. Or if this installment of the franchise involves Peter Parker becoming a hobbit, and Jorge is just his scale double. Or if Peter Parker just drinks one of those shrinking potions from Alice in Wonderland and becomes child size. It doesn’t matter. I’m okay with it.
Oh, and if were you somehow not obsessed enough with the first photo, there’s this one of Andrew extending his hand for what looks like a fish bump.
This just reminds me how few mini-mes there are in movies these days. Just like The Hangover Part III provided the moobs that were unjustly missing from cinema, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is providing the mini-superheroes we’ve been waiting for. Prequels are not enough. I need to see two superheroes of different sizes standing next to each other. Make this happen more often, Hollywood.
Oh, and if you’re sad about not being able to see Andrew’s face, here it is. You’re welcome.
