There’s nothing more horrible in the entire world than when bad celebrities do good things. That’s why I’m having an angina attack reading about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West going out of their way to do something nice for strangers. I’m sorry did I say strangers, because it’s actually it’s worse than that– they did something nice for baby strangers. Excuse me while I hold my own hair back and try to come to terms with this news. It’s just, I don’t know, weird, right? Good, but weird.
The hospital told E! News in a statement: “Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to Kim Kardashian and Kayne West for their thoughtfulness and support of the hospital. We wish them all the best in the upcoming arrival of their baby. Funds donated on behalf of Kardashian and West will be directed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Fund which will help care for the most critically-ill babies and their families.”
Do you see what they did there? Rather than get gifted with a ton of baby stuff that they don’t need (and would rather just purchase themselves with the money they make from leasing their soul on a regular basis), they decided to help other babies in need. Which is an incredibly generous gesture to make. Especially from two people who I would’ve thought were unaware that other people existed on the planet — let alone less fortunate people who can’t afford to help care for their own children. And it turns out this isn’t even the first time they’ve done something nice. According to the very same article on E!, they’ve helped out sick kids before. It’s almost like they’re not the villains that I make them out to be in my fan fiction drafts. Almost.
I can’t make that judgement call before we find out the baby’s name. Because if it involves a K, even a silent one, I’m not sure I can move their file into the maybe-they-are-okay pile of celebrities that I have stacked up in the corner of my office.
