I don’t know if you guys have been keeping track, but today was a really slow news day. I had to write about a whole heap of irrelevant things, like Two And A Half Men and 98 Degrees, and you know how mainstream television does give me pains. If I could come in to work and just sit around all day drawing mustaches on Justin Bieber until the cows come home, I’d be a happy camper, but that’s not the way the good world works, boys and girls. Sometimes you sit down at your desk in the morning and the internet is just not obliging. You’re clicking through to all of the sites but you’re not finding a single piece of news you’re interested in. And since today was one of those days, I hope you’ll excuse me if I don’t invite you in for a slice of pie. (At least, no matter what else happens, there will always be pie in this world. That’s a comfort.)
BUT ANYWAY. I don’t know if you had to straggle through your day as much as I had to through mine, but if you did, I think you’ll appreciate the video tidbit I unearthed from
deep in the ironic BuzzFeed vaults
today. It’s bloopers from Reading Rainbow
, and if ever there was a show that was more a blast from my past right now, I just can’t think of what it would be. I loved this show so much — Levar Burton
giving recommendations and walking around in fields with animals. Oh man. Such a simple time, and I loved it so. So combine one of my favorite shows from my childhood with bloopers, one of my favorite things from my all the time, and you get Reading Rainbow
Bloopers! Just Levar getting gently butted by baby animals while he’s trying to talk, or flubbing his lines…that’s it! There’s no swearing, no elaborate jokes. Just a guy who used to read to me when I was a kid chuckling at the nerve of that baby cow. What could be simpler? Plus it’s only thirty seconds long, so you’ll still make that 5:10 train back up to your homespot. Happy viewing.
