I’m about to say something, and I need you guys to hear me out all the way to the end, or else you’re gonna be really confused: 98 Degrees is coming out with a new full-length studio album. No, stop! I see your eyes starting to panic, and I really don’t want that to happen, so let me just get this out before you freak out — it’s not the year 2000! We didn’t go back in time! You don’t have to go through puberty again! Or go through high school again! Or have a curfew! And most importantly, you don’t have to re-ask that guy Louis to the prom again in front of all your friends again only to have him say no…again. It’s still 2013 and you’re a power-suit rocking, stiletto-wearing high-powered executive journalist for a BLOG and no, 98 Degrees is in no world relevant. But these are tenacious gentlemen, and they’re not allowing a silly old thing like never even being that popular ten years ago to get in in the way of them releasing a mediocre track today, okay?!?
In this particular instance, said mediocre track is called ‘Girls Night Out‘, and it’s actually not as bad as it could be. As I recall, 98 Degrees could never really hang with bands like The Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, so they’re benefiting by the fact that neither of those two bands have music out right now. I was about to say that neither of them existed, but then I remembered that BSB is still holding on for dear life, also. So I guess way to get after it, guys, and keep plugging away at that boy band career now that you’re…almost forty years old, Nick Lachey. Although to be fair, there’s still plenty of time for you to join The Backstreet Boys, Ryan Gosling. So make that happen.
