You know my favorite part of riding the subway? That part when you get out at a station and Michael Bublé’s just doing a little impromptu performance of his song “Who’s Loving You” with Naturally 7. That happens all the time here in New York. And by all the time, I mean approximately never. I never see famous people on the subway, let alone performing in a station. And I look for them. Oh boy, do I look for them.
If you vaguely resemble a famous person and you wear oversized sunglasses in the subway, then that girl starring at you with a quizzical look on her face is me. Don’t mind my piercing stare or my slightly agape mouth — I’m just trying to place you in some show from the WB in the ’90s or some commercial from 2005 or something name-droppy enough that I can tell the story for an entire week. “OMG, you’ll never guess who I saw on the Subway today! Seriously, you won’t guess, so I’ll tell you. Ug from Salute Your Shorts!”
And that’s why I love this video so much. It gives me hope that one day I can have that celebrity encounter that I so desperately crave. I know, I know, this is all part of a publicity stunt to promote his new album, “To Be Loved.” But you know what, sometimes it’s nice to drop my cynicism off at day care for a few hours and let myself be taken in by a PR stunt. So sit back, relax and enjoy a little Michael Bublé this morning.
Oh and after watching it a few times, you should send this to your mom, she’s going to love it! It’s so far up her alley that she actually parks her car there every night. Tell you what, she might even post it on her Facebook wall. Unless of course my mom’s the only who crushes uncomfortably hard on Michael Bublé. If that’s the case, carry on with your day and ignore what I said.
