Yesterday we held a live Facebook interview with rising R&B star B. Smyth and gave readers a chance to ask him their questions. We already knew that the nineteen-year-old is an amazing dancer, got his start on YouTube, and that his single “Leggo” featuring 2 Chainz is really taking off. Here’s the new info we learned from your questions!
The biggest thing we found out is that girls LOVE B. Smyth! Some fans didn’t even ask questions, just gave him compliments instead. A lot of people said they hope they can meet him someday or simply that they “LOVE HIM!!!!” A couple fans took their compliments and presented them in the form of dating questions. One girl asked if he’s single and looking, to which he responded, “Lol. I’m definitely single” to which she responded, “Lol. You definitely just made my day.” As far as dating goes, right now he’s “going with the flow. If somethings comes up, then hey!” What does he consider girlfriend material? “Just basically personality! If you’re a fun person, then we’re good!”
There were some music and career related questions mixed in with all the boy crazy excitement. One fan wanted to know who his dream collaborators are (alive or dead). He answered, “Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, MJ! … We’ve all tried the moonwalk at least once in our lives!” So he likes to keep it old school. Guess it’s a good thing that he’s signed to Motown! When asked about influences, he added James Brown and Usher to the list. He also told us that he knew for sure he wanted to be a performer in 10th grade and even gave some advice for aspiring artists, “Stay focused, stay humble, and stay AT IT!”
It was clear from our interview that B. Smyth loves his fans, which is good because they really love him too. “The live show is a lot more personable which is better for me because I love interacting with the fans,” he said when asked about the difference between singing for his YouTube videos and performing for a live audience. He went on to say that the best part of recording music is the fans’ reaction.
B. Smyth seemed really down-to-earth and a little silly throughout the interview– he’s a big fan of “Lol.” Where did he learn to dance? “Lol. In the hood.” How does he describe his music? “”Swaggggged out! Lol.” Does he get homesick? “Alllllllllll the tiiiiiiiime! ” Basically, his answers were really honest and relatable. So, if you weren’t already members of #TeamBSmyth, maybe you are now. He did a really good job of convincing us to join!
