To the list of ‘Things I Love About Easter’, which up until now has contained only various incarnations of Cadbury Creme Eggs, we can now add Jimmy Fallon. Only increasing my deep-seated affection for him, Jimmy put together a deceptively hilarious sketch called ‘The Chickaneers’, and performed it on The Late Show last night in honor of the holiday this weekend. Basically, it’s four guys in chicken suits — Jimmy, his editor Chris Tartaro, The Voice‘s Blake Shelton, and Nick Offerman, from Parks And Rec – performing an ‘all cluck version’ of ‘Ho Hey’, by The Lumineers. And when I say that’s basically what it was, I mean that’s exactly what it was. And you know what? I absolutely loved it.
Also in case you’re looking to be impressed by something silly, it’s worth pointing out that the guys maintain a clucking harmony throughout the whole song, and even trade off solos. It’s pretty clear that this isn’t just something they threw together last minute; it was thought out and rehearsed and polished into the glorious, hilarious gem that you see before you now. Just another reason why I can’t wait another second for Jimmy to replace Jay Leno on The Tonight Show — I need the whole world to love him as much as I do.
