Even though Amy Poehler’s Ask Amy web series isn’t targeted toward adults, I still love watching it. It’s not only chock-full of great life advice, but it’s also a great opportunity to see the always wonderful Amy Poehler sitting around on her couch, staring into a camera. It makes you feel like you know her. Or at least know what the wall behind her couch looks like. And that’s a start when you’re a professional stalker like I am. Because first it’s the wall, and then it’s the part of the couch arm. And then maybe, one day, the whole room.
This week’s episode’s all about saying goodbye. Not like in the casual “leaving work, bye people I sit next to all day” way, but the “I’m leaving on a jet plane and I don’t know when I’ll be back again” way. As usual, Amy doles out wisdom like she just has it sitting in her fridge in Costco size containers. It sounds so smart and so logical coming from her and I know if someone asked me the same question, I’d come off sounding much less poetic and much more like Yahoo Answers come to life.
However her advice wasn’t the best part of the episode. Her son Abel Arnett stole the show with a last-minute cameo that will make you smile. He’s just so cute! And yes, I know I don’t need to use his last name. But I’m just hoping that if I write Poehler and Arnett together in the same sentences, that, heck, I dunno, maybe, magic will happen.
