Even though no other contenders have emerged to challenge her reign, Vanessa Hudgens is working pretty hard to hold on to the title of ‘Weirdest Person To Come Out Of Disney Lately’. She went on The Tonight Show With Jay Lenolast night to promote the extremely perplexing Spring Breakers, in which she stars as the only convincingly washed-up teenager. The juxtaposition is particularly glaring next to the squeaky-clean Selena Gomez, who was even scared ofJames Franco on-set, but I think she could pull it off on her own, too. But anyway, this entire interview just strikes me as really odd. She talks more about the fact that they snorted Vitamin B instead of coke on set — because I’m sure that’s really good for your nose — and also tells Jay about her experience dancing at some Madonna party.
The interview is particularly awkward because NO ONE is laughing at the beginning of it, when she’s describing the party, which I think is odd because there’s usually at least some background noise on shows like this, I feel. Apparently at Madonna parties, Madonna just blasts the music and then, like, gets her groove on in a circle of her own dancers, which is…odd. And then of course Vanessa wanted to get involved in that, so she challenged them to a dance-off, which she claims to have won. And naturally Jay wants to know what dance move she did, and claims he doesn’t know what ‘booty popping’ is when Vanessa tells him, and insists on a demonstration. So she gets up and does it and she reeeeally does it! Eee! It made me uncomfortable! Look at the look on her face! It’s so weird! And that giggle! I don’t totally get this girl — I feel like Zac Efron sent her here from the future to confuse us while he extricates himself from the High School Musicalfranchise. AND IT’S WORKING.
Every interview i’ve ever seen of her looks like this. She tries to be funny and cute and you can tell the audience is annoyed. Any laughter or clapping from them always seems polite and forced. Did you see her when she was on Ellen? extremely uncomfortable. Shes just so fake.

I’ve watched a lot of Selena/Vanessa interviews this week and the difference between the two is crazy. Selena comes off as prepared and charismatic and Vanessa comes off as a little out of it.
