I was so proud of Selena Gomez handling the Jelena breakup so maturely, especially in light of Justin Bieber completely going off the deep end, but I think I may have spoken too soon. Apparently at the premiere party for Selena’s new movie Spring Breakers, she or her people spoke to the DJ and made it clear that absolutely no Bieber music was to be played during the function. Even when someone when up and specifically requested ‘Beauty and the Beat’, the DJ allegedly responded:
“No, I’m sorry I can’t play it. I was told specifically from her people that any Justin Bieber songs were off limits tonight.”
Interesting. I get the impulse, mostly because it would really suck if Ryan Gosling made music and I had to dance around to it at parties and pretend he didn’t break my heart by…refusing to ever date me or even casually run into me on the street. But that said, thit doesn’t really sound like Selena…it sounds like her BFF, the unsinkable Taylor Swift. The two have been pretty close lately, and Taylor’s influence has been rubbing off on Serena in all kinds of ways. We reported a couple days ago on how the two girls are working on a song together called ‘Better Without You’, which I can almost guarantee is a Swiftian anthem dedicated to cutting J-Biebs down even more than his own Twitter rants and shirtless escapades already have.
I can just hear the two girls now, sitting together while rich people robots braid their hair and paint their toenails. Taylor’s like, “Girl you’re not really gonna dance to Justin’s songs at your party, right?” And Selena’s like, “Hmmph.” And Taylor’s like, “You are woman hear you roar! Don’t you dare let them play that devil music! Come antiquing with me instead!” And Selena’s like, “Hrrrmmmph.” And Taylor’s like, “I know, I’ll untie you in a second and get that silly gag out of your mouth. Just first listen to me tell you one more story about me and Harry Styles at the petting zoo.”
