Last Night Jimmy Fallon Transformed Justin Timberlake Back Into An Awkward Teenager

Justin Timberlake Camp Sketch 14 March 2013

Here’s a fun fact that you probably didn’t know about Late Night with Jimmy Fallon: Two years ago Jimmy Fallon actually purchased the machine that Steve Urkel used to turn into Stefan Urquelle. And, it gets better, last night he made Justin Timberlake get into it so he could transform him back into the noodle-haired stud that he was during his *NSYNC days. Man oh man, can you believe that those flourescent-colored curls used to drive us insane. And by us, I mean you. Truth be told, I was always a JC Chasez girl myself. (Also, can you believe that was actually an acceptable plot on a primetime sitcom in the ’90s? That some dorky kid in the suburbs actually invented a “make me more handsome and suave machine” and everyone just accepted it.)

In case Justin Timberlake going back in time isn’t enough to get you all jazzed up, Jimmy Fallon did too. It’s all part of a camp sketch for TimberWeek. (Or, I’m starting to suspect, Justin Timberlake’s attempt to get NBC execs to give him his very own variety show.) As tradition now goes with these two boys, the sketch quickly turned into a song and dance. I won’t tell you what song they sing. But I will say that it will probably make you miss the rains down in Africa. As well as the awkwardness that boys going through puberty exude on the reg.

Oh and did I mention that they put JT in braces. So yeah, if you ever wondered what it would be like to go to middle school with a member of *NSYNC, you can now picture it more accurately. But spoiler alert, even former boy band members went through awkward stages. Celebrities, they’re just like us! Except they leave puberty with a personal trainer, stylist, make-up artist and an entourage. We just leave with a lot of character-building moments, and if we’re lucky, a water bra.

I was always convinced that Jaleel White made them put that machine in the show so that he could prove to America he wasn’t that nerdy in real life.

In case we believed that he really wore those suspenders?! Sadly, that’s probably true.
