Watch Justin Timberlake And Jimmy Fallon’s Barbershop Quartet Do ‘SexyBack,’ Forget The Original Exists

Justin Timberlake Jimmy Fallon

If I told you there was a version of Justin Timberlake’s classic “SexyBack” that you might enjoy even more than the original, what would you say? I’d imagine it would involve few words and much Elaine Benes-style shoving. Well, I’ll strap some pillows to myself to get ready, because that’s what I’m telling you.

Last night Justin Timberlake continued his week-long takeover of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Monday night on the show he disappointed us by ending his feud with Kanye West before it even got good. So we were worried Justin would spend his whole week ending feuds willy-nilly, left and right, which we simply cannot have. But JT won back our hearts by performing a barbershop quartet version of “SexyBack” with Jimmy Fallon and his Ragtime Gals, who have made appearances on Late Night before. I haven’t decided if I want to wear their striped jackets or turn them into gum and chew them. Either way, I love it.

I’m going to warn you before you watch this video that it might make you forget the original version of the song even exists. As someone who spent most of 2006-2007 singing along to the “yeah” harmony in the background of this song, this is pretty hard for me to admit. But I only ever want to hear this version for the rest of my life. Maybe my love for Pitch Perfect has made me aca-obsessed with a cappella, because I just can’t resist those instrument-less harmonies.

Another thing this video convinces me of is how right Jimmy Fallon is to host The Tonight Show when Jay Leno retires. (Soon? Please?) Talk about really committing to entertaining and surprising his audience every night. It’s gotta be tough to keep that up night after night, but Jimmy manages it, and he’s consistently adorable.

Maybe we can look forward to a barbershop quartet version of “Suit and Tie” when Justin hosts his own TV special on The CW on March 19 for the release of his album and when did the abbreviation for television go from TV to JT? Look, I love me some Justin Timberlake, but the last thing I want is to be Timberlaked-out after all these TV appearances. It’s okay for you to grace to Jessica Biel with your presence sometimes, too, Justin. We won’t be mad.

Watch the matching-outfit magic play out before your eyes in the video below.
