I’m not too proud to admit that I’m intimidated by Chloe Moretz. Between her massive acting resume, her way-too-cool style, and her perfect deadpan stare, this 16-year-old kid is already way too impressive. And she’s not even fully grown yet!
It’s for these reasons that I accepted the ideas of Carrie remake starring her, despite being skeptical of this beautiful creature’s ability to pass as an awkward, unpopular nerd. (And despite Carrie being a perfect movie the first time around.) If any teen in Hollywood today can convince me she has terrifying and deadly special powers, it is her.
Well, the film has just released a new still from that iconic and bloody prom scene, and Chloe Moretz just got a hundred times more intimidating. LOOK AT HER. I can just tell it depicts the moment when Carrie, who’s been covered in pig’s blood by some mean popular kids, discovers her powers for the first time and gathers the inner strength to exact revenge. WHO’S LAUGHING NOW?
WIll this key part be different enough from the original? Who knows? But Chloe already has a darkness to her that the ethereal Sissy Spacek did not, so I’m confident this version will be at least as scary as the first. I would also urge Chloe’s peers to think twice before crossing her.
