I’m so ashamed of myself right now. Mostly because I forgot how much I loved Les Miserables. But watching the cast come together and perform “One Day More” on stage at the 2013 Oscars reminded me just how revolutionary I felt when I left the movie. I honestly left with the goal of rebelling against someone, anyone. I had to do my part to defeat the enemy!
Unfortunately for my Mom, she called me at exactly the wrong time and I ended up yelling at her on the phone for thirty minutes about the time she came into the mall to pick me up in 7th grade when I explicitly asked her to wait in her car. I just needed to yell at someone! Life is so unfair! Why did so many good-looking men have to die so young while Russell Crowe go to live through so many solos?
All these emotions came flooding back as soon as Eddie Redmayne walked onto the stage tonight. (Sorry Anne Hathaway, you’re still not doing it for me. And I have no good reason why. No good reason at all.)
Now I’m going to spend the rest of my week (life?) listening to the Les Mis soundtrack nonstop. Just when I thought I’d finally gotten over that stage in my life…it’s back to walking around NYC with the sounds of revolution blasting in my head. God help anyone who gets in my way.
If you’re in the same boat as me (that’s the boat without the tiger), then you can watch the video right here. You can blame the man for the fact we can’t post it here.
Also, P.S, Aaron Tveit just bought himself a permanent place in my heart tonight.
