Taylor Swift Feels Us Losing Interest, Invites Her Exes To Write Songs About Her

The 2013 Brit Awards (Brits)I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I think the tide might be turning against Taylor Swift. She had a good gig going for a while, mining the Hollywood dating pool for young Casanovas upon whom to base new impossibly catchy pop songs…that rude boy from The Jonas Brothers broke up with you over the phone?! You should let him have it! You’re with that werewolf boy now from Twilight? You have the same name?! Sing about it on SNL! Rub it in everyone’s face! Oh you’re…dating John Mayer, huh? That’s an interesting choice what with him being older than you, kind of a douche, and a noted serial dater, but okay! You’ll get a good song out of it and he’ll deserve it! As long as you don’t date anybody else for a little bit while you — oh you already are? Jake Gyllenhaal directly into Conor Kennedy directly into Harry Styles? And you’re only dating them for two months and falling deeply in love and buying property near them and then writing songs about them? Methinks you know better than this, young Taylor. You’re not a fifteen-year old girl twirling your curls on a porch swing anymore. You’re a grown-ass woman, and like the kids on Zoom!, I think this might be the year that you completely age out of the bracket in which that behavior is either cute or surprising.

And I think Taylor is starting to realize it. In a recent interview with InStyle UK, Taylor gives her many exes permission to do the same thing to her that she’s been making money off doing to them:

“If I’m gonna write songs about my exes they can write songs about me. That’s how it works. I’m not gonna complain about it. I’m not gonna sit there and say, ‘I’m the only one who can write songs about this relationship.’ It’s fair game.”

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti-Swift or anything. Taylor’s music is actually a really big guilty pleasure of mine, and I think I understand the impulses that might lead a young woman famous from a young age to cruise through boyfriends looking for The One. But that said, and in response to your statement to InStyle — wake up, lady. First of all this is the first time that you’re really even admitting how heavily your exes figure into your music, which is extremely belated. Secondly, what the hell kind of song do you imagine Taylor Lautner or Conor Kennedy writing? Who other than me would listen to that? You have a ridiculous advantage here and you know it. And third of all, for the ones who are musicians — YEAH DUH they can write about you. We all knew that; you’ve been the one playing the victim card in all these situations. Today just happens to be the day you run out of unlimited swipes.

harry is probably too mature to even stoop down to her level..don’t do it ._.

      • Elizabeth

Harry doesn’t even WRITE his own songs, you dimwit.

      • soneXshikshin

Idols like 1D can write their own songs too you know…=.=

      • rha

Yes. One Direction has written a song for themselves, they have played their own instruments themselves, oh, they’ve even go without auto tune!

      • Alexis Rhiannon

        For which song?

    • http://twitter.com/lulugou Redsockpuppet

ugh, Swift IS a cheap songwriter. Not everyone is like you, swiftie, think every 2-month fling worth writing anything, let alone a song.

    • James

Dating 6 people in 7 years makes you a serial dater?

      • Alexis Rhiannon

If you have the exact same pattern with each of them, yes.

      • Martin

If you’ve ever heard her songs, it’s pretty obvious she doesn’t have the same patterns with each of them, and even if she did, it wouldn’t mean that she’s a serial dater. You know absolutely NOTHING about her or her love life, so stop judging it.

      • Alexis Rhiannon

But you do, so keep commenting on sites!

    • Erin

She doesn’t write songs to hurt the boys she dates. She writes because it’s her way of getting her emotion out.

      • Jenni

Then why does she record the songs in a studio, put them on her album and go on tour with them?

      • http://twilightirruption.blogspot.com/ abbeysbooks

Ah jenni it’s just perseveration. She’s young, her family is involved in her career – managiing, promotion, finance – and like a lot of pretty teenaged girls she goes from boy friend to boyfriend. She has made a cottage industry out of her boyfriends. If you were a serious person would you want to date her? She doesn’t have much else going for her socially. Name something. She’s in a bubble. It’s super successful. How does she get out? IDK. Go to Yale, Harvard, Princeton like some other celebrities who made it young?

      • Jenni

        She’s 23. Not very teenaged.

      • http://twilightirruption.blogspot.com/ abbeysbooks

That’s her chronological age. It is not her emotional age by any means. She hasn’t gotten even close yet. The problems of all this early success are rearing up now. Her family is supportive, but she needs to get oout of that. Adoring fans are not a help. Criticism won’t help her. She’s in a tough spot. Already she’s yesterday’s wonder. At 23.

      • Elizabeth

Because that’s what real musicians do. You’re probably fed with only Rihanna and Britney. Ever heard of Joni Mitchell? Mick Jagger? They did the exact same thing. Stop picking on Swift, she’s the least trashy celeb around.

      • Martin

Because real musician write about their feelings, honey. Go listen to One Direction or Britney.

So tired of the clueless, sexist articles about Swift. She’s said since she was 17 that she doesn’t care if guys write songs about her. John Mayer did. It’s reported Jonas did, . I do know he wrote something on the Jonas Brother website. I doubt she has any problem if exes talk about her, either. John Mayer has openly talked about her.

—–So guys writing about her? 6 year old news. And run through a list of her hits in the last 6 years. The only person who has more hits in the history of the Billboard 100 is Swift. Amazing. Then go through those huge number of hits and name which exes they are about. You might come up with one or two.—-

So tired of these easy to write, factually wrong articles. Pay attention to the praise top young songwriters like Ed Sheeran and Tom Odell have for her music. Give up the stupid “Taylor writes about her exes” nonsense. Adele does it, Kanye West, JohnMayer. Stop the ignorant sexist nonsense.

    • zach59

Sorry. I meant to say the only Woman who has had more songs on the Billboard Top 100 is Aretha Franklin. But Franklin has had a long career. swift has achieved her spot in 6 or 7 years. And Swift has done that writing her own songs, or sometimes a co-writer. I read one musician who described Swift and her musical talent as a “force of nature”.

No, I’m not a Swiftie or whatever. I just recognize songwriting talent, and agree with songwriters like Odell and Sheeran. A Billboard critic noted how good “Red” is and said at just 23, we can expect many more great albums to come. So tired of ignorant gossip b.s. like this. I say sexist because this wouldn’t be written about a male. There are many guys who write about exes, life experiences etc and don’t get bashed.

I can’t even tell you how much I hate this website. So immature.

      • Kaleena

I can’t even take you seriuosly with your username. SWIFT<3!!!!!! You're obviously a Swift white knighter, which is fine, but don't accuse others of being immature when your idol is basically the most immature person on the planet.

She didn’t give her exes ‘permission’, she was ASKED whether she’d be okay with it. Ugh, do you guys have a problem with EVERYTHING she does? She clearly says ‘it’s fair game’. Also, she didn’t ‘dive’ into Connor after Jake. She didn’t date for more than a year after Jake. Jesus, where do you guys get your ‘facts’ from?

      • Alexis Rhiannon

Our ‘facts’ we get out of peoples’ pockets at the laundromat, but our facts we get from the internet.

      • Gloria Gilbert.

Because everything is true on the internet. I’m laughing so hard right now, the fact you even think things from the internet can be taken as facts. Oh god, you can’t be serious right? You’re hating on a girl who’s more successful than you’ll ever be, who has adoring fans and great friends. Please don’t get your facts from the oh so trustworthy internet where anybody can post anything.

      • Alexis Rhiannon

How did you post on here?? How did you do that? This is the INTERNET!

      • Gloria Gilbert.

Could you actually make yourself sound any dumber. No, this isn’t the internet. It’s Mars. I’m just saying that you should check your sources before you post articles with information that you’ve found off of the internet. It’s fine if it comes from an actual source but 98% of things circulating on the internet are based on speculation and rumors such as this website.

But she wrote a beautiful song for Taylor Lautner.. and what we know.. though they clashed on december but they’re still seeing each other in 2010..so, I guess, lautner did hear about the song first before it was being published. I dont think he cares alot..he never talked about her in public to often..or he may be a very nice person..
