TLC’s My Strange Addiction Reaches Newly Cringeworthy Levels With Lady Addicted To Bee Stings

If you, like us, fear you’ve been building up a tolerance to the upsetting things featured on TLC’s My Strange Addiction, never fear: TLC knows that, and is upping the ante for each episode so that you can still get your fix. This week, they did that by showing us a woman who is addicted to bee stings, as in, she gets stung by bees on purpose, and likes it. Oh dear.

Like anyone on My Strange Addiction, Margaret seems normal at first, just a regular 53-year-old lady from Morningview, Kentucky. And then you find out her dark secret: those sweet, sweet, bee stings. Can’t stop, won’t stop!

She explains that it started innocently enough when she decided to explore alternative treatments for her arthritis pain. But if there’s anything this show has taught us, it’s that most homeopathic remedies are dangerously addictive, so now she stings herself up to 15 times a day with bees taken from her own beehives in her backyard. Oh boy!

The scenario gets even darker when you realize the bees she uses in her dangerous dance with venom are honey bees, which die after stinging someone. So basically, she is also addicted to murder. Bee murder. Hers is not some innocent backyard beehive, but death row for those about to become casualties of her sick, sick habit. What did those poor insects ever do to her besides minding their own business and making honey for her to eat?

Can you even watch the video? Personally, I found myself cringing. But on the upside, this should hold me over for quite a while, at least until my tolerance goes up once again.
