Jessica Chastain is making it clear that she is not feuding with fellow Best Actress Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence, despite rumors that she’s angry at Jennifer for “stealing her thunder.” (Who are they, Monica and Rachel?!) Jessica took to her Facebook page to explain herself, writing:
“Why do we support the myth that women are competitive and cannot get along? I think all of the actresses recognized this year have given incredible performances. But more important, they’ve all shown themselves to be filled with generosity and kindness. I’ve done two photo shoots with Jennifer Lawrence over the years and have found her to be utterly charming and a great talent. I’ve told her how beautiful her film work is.”
Yeah, sure, Jessica. I think we all know what this is about. It looks like somebody has a new enemy to focus on. Did you think we wouldn’t notice that yesterday at the 2013 BAFTA Awards, both you and Jennifer Lawrence lost Best Actress to Amour star Emmanuelle Riva?
To think we would buy into the preposterous idea that women can get along! And in the entertainment industry, no less! And to use a photo shoot story as evidence! We all know how those group photo shoots with young, in-demand actresses go. One minute Annie Leibovitz is saying Jennifer’s going to be lying on the chaise lounge and you’ll be sitting on the floor, and the next minute you “accidentally” step on J.Law’s train and send her tumbling into the styrofoam Doric column. I have to hand it to you, Jessica Chastain, you almost had me.
Now the only thing for Jessica and Jennifer to do is join forces to defeat Emmanuelle Riva. She’s the oldest Best Actress nominee in the history of the Oscars, ladies. It should be a breeze. And you both have so much training. Jessica, you took down Bin Laden in Zero Dark Thirty. Jennifer, you’re Katniss Everdeen. This is what you were born to do.
Ha, actresses getting along. How naive do you think we are?
