Frank Ocean Is Not Pressing Charges Against Chris Brown, But It’s Okay Because He’s In Trouble For Other Stuff

Rihanna and Chris Brown leave the Staples Centre together

When I first read that the “reformed” Chris Brown had shown his true colors once again by attacking Frank Ocean over a parking space, I was both sad and happy: sad that Frank Ocean got hurt, but happy that Brown might actually be held responsible for his actions. Now, it seems Frank Ocean is not going to press charges, but Brown is in trouble for other, unrelated reasons, so it’s okay.

As you may have seen, Frank Ocean turned the other cheek yesterday with a Tumblr post in his signature poetic (and emphatically capitalized) style:

AS A CHILD I THOUGHT IF SOMEONE JUMPED ME IT WOULD RESULT IN ME MURDERING OR MUTILATING A MAN. BUT AS A MAN I AM NOT A KILLER. I’M AN ARTIST AND A MODERN PERSON. I’LL CHOOSE SANITY. NO CRIMINAL CHARGES. NO CIVIL LAWSUIT. FORGIVENESS, ALBEIT DIFFICULT, IS WISDOM. PEACE, ALBEIT TRITE, IS WHAT I WANT IN MY SHORT LIFE. PEACE.

While it’s a little bit frustrating that Chris Brown is once again getting off scot-free, I respect this position. It’s not good to hold onto anger.

But wait! As it turns out, Chris Brown may have faked the community service hours he was ordered to perform in connection to his assault of Rihanna, putting him in violation of his probation. Via Hollywood Life:

In a motion filed by Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray, the court was asked to decline to accept Chris’ community labor in Virginia due to what appears to be “significant discrepancies indicating at best sloppy documentation and at worst fraudulent reporting.”

Pro tip: if you are going to whine about how you have already paid your dues for something, you should probably make sure you actually have.

Brown might be in even more trouble in the court of public opinion, as TMZ obtained a copy of the police report, and it’s not nice. Apparently, someone in Brown’s crew called Frank a “faggot,” although he said he couldn’t tell who it was. Chris Brown hangs out with and/or is a homophobe? How very shocking.

All of that said, I doubt any of this will hurt Brown’s standing with the asshole-worshipping delusionals who make up Team Breezy, because why would it? But even they can’t stop the long arm of the law from reaching out and grabbing him, should it come to that, which I hope it does. Rihanna can’t make (and own) the bad decision to date him if he’s in jail, now can she?
