Maybe don’t read this post if you have a weak stomach. Or a strong one with food in it. Or a stomach at all, because it’s pretty gruesome. Former America’s Next Top Model contestant Lisa D’Amato mysteriously broke her face while joking around with a crew member from her recently-wrapped indie movie Cowboys and Indians. You may remember Lisa as the most-hated contestant on Cycle 5, where she placed sixth, and as the winner of the All-Stars Cycle 17, in 2011. She was also on the third season of Celebrity Rehab for addictions to alcohol, marijuana, mushrooms, amphetamines, and cocaine, so let’s bear that in mind as we read through this train of events.
According to Lisa’s Facebook and Twitter, she was at a hotel in Colorado, doing a handstand up against the crew member, when she suddenly lost her balance and smashed her face on the ground. Apparently he fell on her as well, causing a broken nose and lacerations on her forehead, lips, and chin. She tells People Magazine:
“We were just kind of monkeying around. It was a totally freak accident. It wasn’t like we were doing back flips off the balcony.”
And in a post on her own Instagram, writes:
“I was not doing a crazy acrobatic move, it was quite easy actually- one I’ve done with a a partner since I was a child. It truly was a strange freak accident. Truth is- shit happens!”
Lisa was immediately taken to the emergency room, and then quickly sent to another hospital when they realized her nose was broken badly enough that it had to be re-set. Okay. Now I’m gonna show you the bad pictures. So please get ready. She posted these on her accounts herself, so they’re definitely real. But they’re also gross. So just, spit out whatever you’re eating.
What you’re looking at is the fact that Lisa had to get an entire nose job. Apparently she literally smashed it, so they had to rebuild it. But she’s not stressing out about it:
“I didn’t have the best nose in the world to begin with. It gave me character. Now I have a nice little nose job. I get a super cute nose.”
Sounds like a pretty good attitude, considering how crazed most of the ANTM girls get at the threat of scissors coming near their hair. And based on the picture at the top of the page, of what she looks like now, it seems like she’s healing properly, so that’s great. Throughout the whole thing, though, Lisa says she was trying to calm down the people around her, who were freaking out:
“Everyone seemed so sad. I looked at my hands. They were covered with blood. That’s when I thought, ‘Oh, my God, what did I do to myself?’ Of course, I started crying.”
Oh you looked at your hands? That’s what did it? Not your face? Because one look at that was all I needed to realize I shouldn’t be doing any handstands in Colorado hotels anytime soon. Meeeep.
