The Five Cutest Moments From Today’s Presidential Inauguration (Now With GIFs!)

Barack Obama Sworn In As U.S. President For A Second TermToday’s presidential inauguration was a magnificent affair full of pomp, circumstance, and perhaps most importantly, cuteness. But which moments of the multi-hour ceremony were the cutest? My first thought was “James Franco’s poem, obviously,” but believe it or not, that wasn’t officially part of it, so here are my five runners-up.

5. Joe Biden‘s grumpy face during Beyonce‘s rendition of the National Anthem:

joe-bidenWas he thinking about something unpleasant, or has he simply reached the age where his expression is the same whether he loves something or hates it? In any case, grumpy faces are never not adorable.

4. The face Bill Clinton made behind Kelly Clarkson was similarly cute, but less in a “dear old uncle” kind of way and more a “friend’s dad you secretly want to bang” way:

3. The moment you realized Michelle, Sasha and Malia Obama had color coordinated their coats, gloves, and scarves with one another:

BONUS: Here’s the full video of Beyonce powering through technical difficulties to sing the most perfect version of “The Star Spangled Banner” that anyone’s ever heard. More bad ass than cute, but I feel like you need to see it.
