Um you guys. YOU GUYS. Come over here and immediately look at these GIFs of Les Miserables star Eddie Redmayne in full, Shakespearean drag. (Which is commonly accepted as the best kind of drag.) They come from a video of Eddie playing Viola in Twelfth Night, which you can find below because I am a kind and generous person and I want to give you all of life’s conveniences and pay your way through college. Or maybe just the video. Don’t hold me to that college part.
But OHMYGODEDDIEREDMAYNE. I can’t handle how great this is! Or the fact that there’s no explanation for why gents are still portraying ladies in this day and age. I can handle none of it. The only thing I can think of is that maybe this video is from back in 2009 or 2010 when there were still no women around. The first woman wasn’t born until 2008, after all, so she would’ve been much too small to appear in this video. And it was me. I am the first woman, but I relinquish all claims to womanhood now, having seen Eddie Redmayne in a wig and a frock.
There is nothing that’s not amazing about this. Look how coquettishly he flirts! What a charming coy glance for such a saucy lass! It’s a sad day when Eddie Redmayne in a dress is better at flirting than I am. But that day is here, and I never thought I’d be so glad to see it.
It’s also necessary that we talk about the fact that Eddie-Redmayne-in-drag’s celebrity doppelganger is Jennifer Garner. TO. A. T. BuzzFeed pointed it out and now I cannot unsee it.
